About Dr. Kannya Asokan

Failure to do so may result in your appointment being rescheduled or canceled.** Dr. Asokan does not manage controlled substance prescriptions nor does she perform full gynecological exams. **Dr. Asokan only sees patients ages 18 and older.**
Dr. Kannya Asokan is board certified in internal medicine and practices with BayCare Medical Group in the new Tampa area, near Wesley Chapel. For over 10 years, Dr. Asokan has used her experience to her advantage in treating young healthy adults as well as frail elderly patients with multiple co-morbidities.
Dr. Asokan earned her medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, from P.S.G. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. She then completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. Dr. Asokan has made a significant impact on her patients and helped to highlight key elements for providing good patient care. She strongly believes in empowering her patients to voice their concerns while being a good listener. Dr. Asokan systematically fosters a strong doctor-patient relationship, which ultimately improves her patients’ compliance and confidence in her.
As a believer in building good relationships with her geriatric patients, Dr. Asokan manages some acute emergencies in an outpatient setting, such as asthma and COPD exacerbations. She prefers to identify patients at risk who need inpatient evaluation and treatment.

I will start with a THANK YOU note. Dr. Kannya Asokan, we really appreciate your patience and commitment in taking care of your patience’s health. We really experienced it today and I don’t have words to thank you!
The Doctor is very friendly and listened to our problems with patience. We visited for a physical examination but managed to complete the blood work on the same day. The best part is Dr. Kannya Asokan called me in the evening, to discuss about a critical health issue identified in my blood work results. She provided all the guidance to get this health problem treated immediately and with her directions we managed to get it addressed immediately. What an experience!

The nurses here are wonderful. The receptionists are sweet and conversational. However, Dr. Kannya was just… pleasant. She’s a stoic one (you won’t get a smile or a laugh) which can be a turn off for some people, but she means well and she is a great listener. She does her job well and that is all that matters if you are like me and only visit the doctor 2-3 times a year for check ups and prescriptions.

Normal doctors office however everyone is friendly. Not a long wait but then I went early in the morning. My questions were answered by the doctor and medical assistant. However not real fond of that I cant get relief from pain because this was from when a lady rear ended me. Im in pain 24 hours a day.
