Jason Rubinov, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist in New York treating patients at the Mount Sinai Doctors practice in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He is a native New Yorker born to Ukrainian immigrants, and has native fluency in both English and Russian. Dr. Rubinov completed his undergraduate studies at New York University in Manhattan, New York. After completing his undergraduate studies, he went on to earn his medical degree from St. George's University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Rubinov then completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan. After residency, Dr. Rubinov was selected amongst his peers to be Chief Resident at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and completed a fellowship in graduate medical education and administration. Following his year as Chief Resident, Dr. Rubinov went on to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, St. Luke's and West Hospitals. During his final year of fellowship, he was selected amongst his peers to be Chief Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellow.

Having to talk to a doctor about your bowel movements is undeniably a little awkward, but Dr. Rubinov made me feel comfortable and let me discuss my concerns. While we couldn't pinpoint the exact cause yet, I feel confident through the tests he ordered (blood work and stool samples) that we'll figure it out in a subsequent appointment. He seemed super knowledgeable and explained things clearly. The nurse who took my blood pressure and drew blood also was very kind and made the process a breeze. Plus, the office had a hand-sanitizer station right by the door and they took my temperature upon entering, making it feel safe during COVID times. Logistically, some things were a bit inconvenient: My initial appointment got bumped back two weeks, but they were helpful in rescheduling. Also, I was supposed to do two stool samples, but they mistakenly only gave me one container. It was only after I dropped off the first sample and got all the way home that I got a call, mentioning I had to come back to get a second container for the other test. That meant 4 trips to the office, rather than 2. Still, I don't really hold that against them -- mistakes happen and they were friendly/helpful all along!

Yesterday I went to see Dr Rubinov who was very kind, thourogh and explained everything nicely and succinctly. It was a great and easy visit with him and he helped me solve problems that the previous 3 Gastro drs I had visited over the years did not and gave me options they didnt even mention to me, including a plan to start small and work up to other tests if my first treatment plan didnt work. So I would highly highly recommend. BUT I would never want to go back to this place bc I do have to say that the receptionists for check in were the WORST ever, very very rude and you are most definately and incoveniece to them... even for them to look at you or talk to. I had a question on one of the intake forms since it said ambulance and I didnt know if I needed to fill it out so I went up and asked he ignored me and so I asked again and he got angry with me for asking i scurried away back to the waiting area and I didnt want to even check out after my doctors visit bc him and the woman sitting next to him (who was just sitting texting on her phone chewing bubble gum/clicking small bubble sounds over and over again obnoxiously). Dr. Rubinov asked me to bring my chart to them and asked to me to ask them to have me be signed up on some portal so I could contact him through there but the guy again ignored me when i asked so I just said do I owe you anything (since he was still just ignoring me while I stood in front of him) and he just dismissed me. I tried to even make a joke to lighten things up and it was like ugh just get away.The whole counter of receptionists are the worst, both in attitude and professionlism. Ive never done this but I was thinking about calling and reporting bc never in my life have I seen or been treated that way for just trying to see a dr.!
Dr. Rubinov is outstanding. I visited his office earlier this summer to make sense of some tummy issues I had going on. Not only did he recommend comprehensive tests (include a colonoscopy, which he performed a month later - a totally breeze too!) but he was earnest in answering every possible question I could think of in a way that was easy for me to understand the science and rationale behind the steps being taken on my medical journey, while also making me feel at ease. Can't recommend him enough!
