Melissa Davis graduated Cum Laude from Appalachian State University, in the beautiful NC mountains, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. After feeling a calling to help people heal through counseling, she went on to receive her Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Melissa has worked in counseling with adult and late-adolescent survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault for nearly five years. Through her experience, she has developed specialized skills in working with individuals experiencing trauma, depression, grief, stress, and a facet of other presenting problems. She has experience in working with individuals, couples, and group settings. Melissa is certified in Mindfulness EMDR, and has received education in CBT and DBT modalities. Melissa believes the most effective counseling is done when you meet a client where they are on their journey and walk alongside them to find healing and a healthy lifestyle. Her treatment is centered around the clients’ needs based on their current and past experiences, along with his or her specific worldview. Having graduated from a Christian University, Melissa is educated in utilizing biblical principles in therapy and can incorporate these practices into treatment if a client introduces a desire or need to focus on spiritual values. Melissa stays busy running around after 3 amazing children and spending time with her husband when not working as a counselor. She serves in the children’s ministries at her church, and enjoys volunteering. Melissa also likes to cook, host friends and family, and be active.
