Getting to know Stephen McAlister

Stephen treats patients starting at 13 years old. Stephen earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. He is licensed in both professional counseling and addictions. He is fluent in Spanish and effective in cross-cultural communication. Stephen feels passionately about empowering clients to let go of their burdens to create new freedom. Whether it's dealing with the shame of substance abuse issues, fear surrounding sexual identity concerns, underlying dread from childhood traumas, or ongoing guilt of "forgotten crimes" from the past, he believes in offering a safe space to put your burdens to rest and then work together to create a new story that gives you authenticity, community, and possibility. He also specializes in interpersonal communication skills (parent/child, employee/employer, spouse/partner). In his free time, Stephen enjoys reading and writing. He also enjoys traveling as much as he can and photographing beautiful sites.
