About Dr. Milan Stevanovic

Dr. Stevanovic is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He is known internationally for his expertise in problems of the hands and upper extremity. He has extensive experience in treating patients with peripheral nerve injuries, trauma, burns, microvascular, and rheumatoid problems affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Dr. Stevanovic came to the United States from the University of Belgrade, where he was chief of the Hand and Upper Extremity Program and replantation team. He is also a pediatric specialist with expertise in the management of congenital deformities. Dr. Stevanovic received his medical degree (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine in Serbia, Yugoslavia. He completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the same institution. He then completed fellowship training in hand surgery at Duke University Medical Center and microsurgery training at Duke University. As the director of the USC Joseph H. Boyes Hand Fellowship Program, Dr. Stevanovic is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of hand surgeons and has been honored with numerous teaching awards. He has conducted extensive research on upper extremity reconstruction. In addition to publishing clinical research papers, he has contributed chapters for hand surgery textbooks and serves as a reviewer for several hand and microsurgery journals.

I thought dr Milan’s approach quite cold. He didn’t look at the MRI exam or the radiologist notes I brought - which stated I had a broken bone.

I went to Dr. Stevanovic about wrist and finger pain and numbness. I’m disappointed with the appointment overall. The doctor didn’t read the file I filled out ahead of time and used the majority of the session to ask me the questions I had already answered on the form. Additionally, they had a hard time understanding what I said due to being ESL. Finally, they were unable to answer my questions. I asked about wrist stretches and the doctor said there were none he could recommend and that they don’t work. This is baffling to hear because this doesn’t match what any other website recommends. I also asked about ergonomic keyboard and mouse set ups and he didn’t have and recommendations. His answer boiled down to asking someone else. If you are looking for a wrist injury consultation, this doctor is likely mot the right one.
