Nadine Kaskas, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist who provides comprehensive medical and cosmetic dermatologic care to patients 7 years of age and older and all skin types. She is passionate about providing the highest quality care with a focus on achieving the best results while addressing all of your skin concerns with compassion and attention to detail.
Dr. Kaskas grew up in sunny Shreveport, Louisiana, where she enjoyed the best crawfish and pralines. She double majored at Centenary College of Louisiana on a full academic scholarship, graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and Philosophy. She graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport with Distinction in Research, where she founded the American Medical Student Research Journal and "Empathy in Medicine: The Good Doctor" elective.She received numerous national awards, including the American Medical Association Foundation Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award as well as first place in Cancer Biology at the 11th Annual American Medical Association Research Symposium. She completed a preliminary year of internal medicine training at LSU Baton Rouge prior to dermatology residency at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. During her training, she volunteered as the physician coordinator for the Rhode Island Hospital free skin cancer screenings as well as the Brown liaison for the Women's Dermatologic Society and received the American Academy of Dermatology International Society Travel Grant. In addition to her passion for clinical dermatology, volunteering, and teaching, Dr. Kaskas has a strong interest in advancing the field of dermatology through research. She has over 20 publications, including a book chapter and journal articles, and has spoken at national dermatology conferences.

Dr. Kaskas was fantastic. Clear, calm, validating. I came in after having been misdiagnosed at a clinic followed by weeks of failed treatment: Dr. Kaskas immediately knew what was going on, communicated everything in a compassionate way, and set me up with the right treatment. I’m a bit squeamish, and so she even picked an information packet to give me that was less gruesome in the details, but still fully informative (it’s a parasite, so that’s not easy to do!). Could not recommend her more highly!
All the staff were friendly and professional. Wait time was minimal, appointment itself was efficient, scrip was called in, and I was back at work in no time.

The appointment was fine but it felt very scripted, like what she told me was very memorized and seemed not to have much to do with what I said. Like I said I wear SPF 50 and she says ok make sure to wear at least 30. I also never had anyone suggest to take a sample that would leave a permanent scar for eczema.

As always, the office staff and Dr. Kaskas were friendly. I was seen immediately, set up in the patient room by Kia, a friendly and personable Medical Assistant. Dr. Kaskas came right in, listened to my concerns and tended to each one of them thoroughly. An added bonus to my visits is that Dr. Kaskas always makes time to engage in a friendly conversation apart from the purpose of the visit, which really puts me at ease. I enjoy coming to this office and seeing the staff and Dr. Kaskas because I know I will be treated with care.

I am not going to be returning to see Dr. Kaskas due to the amount of headache Mt. Sinai caused me after my visit. Until my recent visit, I had seen Dr. Kaskas with no issue in regards to billing. With previous visits I would pay my copay (Dr. Kaskas is in my health insurance network) and a single claim would be made by her office. For my most recent visit there were two claims made to my insurance, one by the office of Dr. Kaskas (covered by my insurance) and a few weeks later a separate claim by Mt. Sinai Beth Israel Hospital for an additional amount for the same exact visit (not covered by my insurance). When seeking an explanation as to why the hospital had suddenly began billing me in addition to Dr. Kaskas, as was not the case in the past, I was never given an explanation. I was only told that they do "split billing" and I was being charged a "facility fee" since that was not her main office and that I should find a doctor in my network and and see her in her main office to avoid this in the future. So, no explanation as to why the sudden double billing and just boiler plate scripted bs to bill you twice for a simple visit to the dermatologist. Cool. Keep selling your mychart portal and acting like you are making patients' lives easer and more streamlined only to move the goal posts on how you are going to come up with ways to take their money. No thanks.

Dr.Kaskas was personable and friendly. She made sure I was comfortable. She was preforming a routine skin check as I have a family history of skin cancer, so I was just in a gown and underwear, which is obviously a more vulnerable situation to be in. But she made me feel at ease and wasn’t judgmental of my body, even though I am a fat bodied individual. It is really important to me when a doctor treats me fairly :) Great doctor and professional while being friendly

I’m a physician myself, and I was disappointed with my initial visit with Dr. Kaskas. She lacks bedside manner, and professionalism. I waited for 20 minutes in the waiting room, and for more than 20 minutes in an exam room. She brought two other people into the exam room, and while they were introduced by first name, there was no explanation of who they were or why they were there––I found out later they were scribes. As a doctor myself, with my own busy patient load, I can certainly understand how a physician can run behind schedule; it means a lot to patients to offer a simple straightforward apology when they’ve been kept waiting. However, when I expressed my frustration with the wait time, Dr. Kaskas didn’t even acknowledge my comment, and instead just looked at me condescendingly and said “how can help you today?”. I’d taken the time to fill out the pre-consultation Zocdoc questionnaire, but she didn’t express any knowledge of my history or the stated reason for my consultation. I told her that i was there because of two areas of my face that were concerning for skin cancer, and her passive aggressive response was “well, I’m happy to biopsy it, but it could leave a scar on your face”. At that point she hadn’t asked me how long the marks had been there, whether they’d changed in recent months, my skin cancer history, my medical history in general, my risk factors for skin cancer, or my family history. She didn’t offer a full body skin examination, nor did she ask me when my last one was. I had to prompt her to even examine the two areas of discoloration. She picked up her magnifying glass, looked at them, gave her clinical impression that they were most likely keratoses, and again indicated that she could biopsy them, but it might leave a scar. Her poorly contained negative demeanor was so off-putting that there was no way I was letting her near my face with a scalpel, so I declined the procedure and left.
