Mehreen Ghanchi is a psychiatric nurse practitioner qualified to practice in psychiatry; diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for children, adolescents, and adults. Some of her practice specialties include, but are not limited to, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia. Mehreen’s heart and passion lie not only in caring for others but also in assisting clients in transitioning to wellness. She has several years of experience working in a psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescent, and adult populations. Mehreen earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Mehreen is actively engaged in promoting mental health in the community through research and education. Her research interests include improving communication in the clinical setting and increasing access to psychiatric care. It is a lifelong dream of Mehreen’s to end the stigma associated with mental illness. She believes mental health treatment should be as accessible as any other medical treatment. She also hopes that all people suffering from a mental health condition can be free from shame or guilt.

Provider canceled my appointment 9 minutes before our session because she “no longer treats patients with ADHD”. I’ve been seeing this provider for almost a year and we finally got me on a solid medication plan. Now I need to find a new provider to fill this months prescription (which will likely be impossible because I’m moving to another state next month and it takes forever to get a psych medication specialist appointment). Now my care is disrupted with no resolution in sight.

cons: not very warm/ personable, abrupt appointments that make you feel rushed, a bit pushy with medicine
**the office staff is not very helpful. it’s hard to get in contact with an actual human; endless answering machines and automated texting will be involved. communication is poor and made difficult.

My appointment began right on time and Dr. Ghanchi focused all of her attention on my feelings and concerns. Speaking about mental health struggles is not easy so I appreciated how kind Dr. Ghanchi was and can tell that she genuinely cares about the well-being of her patients. She kept interrupting while I was trying to explain a symptom and she would talk so fast as if she was in a hurry throughout the appointments. It felt like she pressured you to get to the point so she could prescribe you whatever she thought would work and be done with you. I felt like I had to interrupt her in order for her to listen or tell her she wasn’t understanding what I was saying. She also got defensive when I told her about a side effect that I was having and how my PCP told me it could have been from a mix of different prescriptions from either of them. Overall bedside manner did not work for my anxiety but I’m sure it would be better someone else.
