Shakil Siddiqui, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in General Adult Psychiatry. He finished his residency training in Psychiatry at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX and his resident fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas, Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.
Dr. Siddiqui has many years of experience treating multiple different Psychiatric Illnesses including: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, etc. He also has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
For several years, Dr. Siddiqui worked as a General Adult Psychiatrist at the Rusk State Hospital in Rusk, TX. During his time there, he treated many acutely ill and newly admitted patients in the Psychiatric unit, provided supervision, clinic support and teaching of the Nurses and clinical staff. He also spent some time working as a General Adult Psychiatrist at the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County in Houston, TX where he treated adult patients with Schizophrenia, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and patients with dual diagnosis.
Dr. Siddiqui has experience in both Presentation and Teaching in reference to diagnosis management, comorbidity and outcome of “Eating Disorders” and the criteria and legal issues associated with “Involuntary Commitments of Psychiatric Patients”. He was also awarded the “Outstanding Resident Award in Psychiatry” given by John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX Psychiatry staff from 1997-1999 and the “Psychiatric Resident of the Year Award” selected by the Department of Psychiatry, John Peter Smith Hospital as PGY-3 Psychiatry Resident in 1998.

He didn't really listen to what I was saying and often spoke over me. I saw that this was a problem that other people listed in their reviews, but I chose to give him a try anyway. Not only did he speak over me, but he also did not let me finish my sentences; it was like he was both the patient and the doctor.

I explained that I occasionally had panic attacks and was told that I should remember it’s “all in my imagination” and to just “take a deep breath and think positive.” If that worked, I wouldn’t have made an appointment. Really not very helpful. Kept talking over me.

He is a horrible soul. I changed my Doctor and came to him, and he mishmashed my 7 year medication. He doesn’t listen and give a straight 15 mins lecture. Awful!

I was given medication that really did not work. Not necessarily therapist’s adult. Perhaps an in person meeting would have been better, but definitely not happy. I managed to find to find a psychiatrist through Zocdoc that has been amazing!
