The doctor exhibited poor listening skills & a hurried demeanor by having his back turned to me (as I explained my symptoms). He turned away to select an order for blood to be drawn—not an item related to what I was discussing. While I am ok with multi-tasking, I also want to be assured that the doctor is listening. Mine was an end of day appointment. I wonder if the doctor wanted to hurry out of the office.
His aid (who drew blood) was observably inexperienced & unstable with the needle, while it was in my arm. Ever have someone jiggle a needle around in your arm? Not fun. At one point, she had to switch vials. She did not have the new vial close, and so, she reached for it and mistakenly / prematurely pulled out of the vein. She was so shaken by this that she nervously said, “I pulled out early” & then miscounted how many vials she had taken (2/4). This resulted in her having to go into the vein on my other arm, which also led to further complications.

As a new patient I was happy to be in & out of the office within 40 minutes including check in, all paperwork, annual wellness exams, & blood work for both me & my husband. Everyone we spoke to was friendly & professional, the facility was clean, & Dr. de las Alas was engaging & kind. The lab was on site so it was quick & easy to get blood work right after our appointments. All of my family medical history & personal records carried through IU Health systems which saves so much time & explanation!! I'm happy with everything & we will continue seeing Dr. de las Alas in the future.

Dr D. Is always pleasant, making sure he checks everything and clearly stating what he wants me to do. This last visit he insisted I needed to get a mammogram, since I was a month past the one year since my last one. I was actually going to wait until next year, go every other year. This mammogram showed a change which turned out to be cancer, all my other mammograms have been clear! I owe him big time for simply being a good and diligent physician to insist I get this mammogram! This cancer was caught very early- stage 0 thanks to him!

He is very compassionate and non-judgemental. I have known him since he was a resident and is an excellent physician. He and his staff get back with you very quickly about anything you need. I can get an appointment whenever I need one.
