About Dr. Walter Lech

Dr. Walter Lech is a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with 15 years in the Harvard Medical community. He graduated with honors in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from UCLA, publishing key research on HIV drug resistance, before earning his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, he received prestigious research fellowships and the Multiculturalism Award for mentoring students of color and the Native American community.
Dr. Lech completed his General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by advanced training in Minimally-Invasive Thoracic Surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He also served as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School before becoming a Staff Surgeon in Thoracic Surgery at Beth Israel and later relocating to Stanford University.
Initially, Dr. Lech focused on lung cancer patients in Boston, utilizing advanced minimally-invasive and robotic surgical techniques. Recently, he has shifted to treating chronic venous and lymphatic disorders. As a recognized Interventional Vein Specialist in California, Dr. Lech has treated hundreds of patients with varicose veins and venous insufficiency using cutting-edge, minimally-invasive techniques.

It was my first visit to the Vein Clinic so I was a bit anxious. prior to my appointment . However, once I met with Dr. Lech and his team, I relaxed immediately. From Emily at the front desk, to Angel the technician, and the doctor himself, everybody was so nice!
Dr. Lech is very personable and is a great listener and communicator. I trust him and will be happy to see him again soon to discuss further treatment .
