Who writes the reviews on Zocdoc?

Learn about verified patient reviews and other reviews on Zocdoc.

Updated over a year ago

Patients like you. Zocdoc’s goal is to present reviews that are fair, accurate, and trustworthy. Two things set Zocdoc reviews apart from others:

  1. Our reviews come from real patients. On most platforms, reviews can be written by anyone—including people who’ve never actually seen the provider, or even by the providers themselves. On Zocdoc, every review is written by an actual patient. Zocdoc will only post reviews from patients who interacted with the practice they booked their appointment with.

  2. We show more representative feedback. We solicit reviews after each and every appointment, which generates a higher volume of reviews. This means that more people leave reviews, not only the extremely happy or unhappy outliers. This results in a more representative sample of patient feedback (good, bad, and in between) to help you find the right provider.

What are Zocdoc Patient Reviews?

A Zocdoc Patient Review will say Verified patient by the reviewer's name, which means Zocdoc has vetted this feedback as part of our moderation process. This helps us ensure we’re building a trustworthy, representative, and reliable review system that’s helpful to both patients and providers.

From there, the reviews are shared with other patients.

Note: Patients can choose to review providers anonymously. If they do, the review will say Initials hidden (and it will not say Verified patient).

How do you verify Zocdoc Patient Reviews?

To leave a review, patients must be logged into their Zocdoc account or submit their review by using a link sent to the email tied to their Zocdoc account. This ensures that feedback comes from real patients who interacted with the practice they booked their appointment with.

What are Partner Reviews?

As part of our effort to provide you with even more representative information from a variety of patients (including those who don't book through Zocdoc), we include Partner Reviews for some doctors.

These reviews are collected by independent third-party survey providers, who specialize in patient feedback and take steps to only solicit reviews from real patients. On Zocdoc, Partner Reviews are clearly designated, and we moderate all Partner Reviews for compliance with Zocdoc guidelines.

These reviews will say Source: Partner.

What are Supplemental Reviews?

Zocdoc allows providers to submit reviews from their existing patients. These Supplemental Reviews can help you learn about providers who are new to Zocdoc and may not have many Zocdoc Patient Reviews yet.

These reviews will only have a patient’s name or initials. They will not say Verified patient or Source: Partner.
