How does Zocdoc vet the doctors I see on the site?

Learn about the verification process used to vet providers on Zocdoc.

Updated over 2 years ago

All providers go through a vetting process before they can be listed on our marketplace.

For starters, we confirm they have the appropriate licenses for their specialties, their licenses are active, and they’re in good standing to practice. Their profile will reflect the states in which they are licensed to practice. We also confirm their specialty, education, and any board certifications listed in their profile, and we ensure they’re not excluded from federal health care programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Only then are they approved to join our marketplace. However, Zocdoc does not make any representations about the doctor’s ability to provide medical care. See our terms of use for more details.

Providers on Zocdoc also go through an annual re-vetting process to review all the items we first verified when they joined the platform.

Additionally, to remain on Zocdoc, providers must uphold our Community Standards, which you can learn more about here. Zocdoc takes complaints about providers seriously. Our Trust and Safety team investigates complaints and depending on the frequency and severity of the complaint, Zocdoc may take actions ranging from issuing a warning to removing the provider from the platform completely.
