How to manage your spend across Zocdoc.com and partner sites

Learn more about adjusting your settings when you want to limit your practice’s spend

There are no upfront fees or subscription costs for joining Zocdoc. You pay a discovery booking fee only when Zocdoc helps a patient discover and book your practice. Learn more about pricing.

There are different ways that you can manage your spend on Zocdoc

  • Set a monthly budget: Limit your spend on discovery bookings across your practice. When you reach your cap, discovery bookings will pause for all providers until the following month.

  • Manage which providers can receive discovery bookings: Turn discovery on or off for individual providers or locations.

  • Pause discovery bookings: Pausing your spend means you will not show up in discovery searches for a new provider on Zocdoc or partner sites.

When discovery bookings are turned off, you will still be able to receive reputation bookings, which include appointments made by patients specifically seeking them through a partner site, returning patients booking through Zocdoc.com or the Zocdoc app, and patients using your Booking Link.

Tip: Most practices do not set a spend cap or pause their spending so that they can receive as many bookings as possible.

You can control your spend and adjust it at any time in the performance dashboard. Click “manage spend” on the upper right of the page to see your options.

Monthly budget

What is a monthly budget?

Setting a monthly budget—which is the maximum amount of money your practice will spend on discovery booking fees in a given month—will limit the number of discovery bookings that your practice receives. This amount is set for your entire practice; currently, you cannot have a different monthly budget per provider.

You may spend less than this amount if you don’t receive enough discovery bookings to reach this budget.

Note: Other charges related to your Zocdoc account, such as Sponsored Results, will not count towards your monthly budget.

How do I set a monthly budget?

Click on “Manage spend” and then select “Set a monthly budget.”

From here, you can adjust your monthly budget in units of your discovery booking fee. At the bottom, you will see the maximum number of discovery bookings you will receive based on this cap.

Your budget changes will go into effect immediately. If you set your budget to an amount less than what you have already spent that month, then you will not receive discovery bookings for the rest of the month, and you won’t spend any more on discovery booking fees until your budget resets to your new amount the following month.

How do I remove or adjust my monthly budget?

Once you hit your monthly budget, you will not be able to receive discovery bookings from Zocdoc.com and partner sites. To be able to receive discovery bookings again for the month, you can remove or adjust your monthly budget.

First, click on “Manage Spend” and then you have two options:

  • Remove budget: This will maximize the number of discovery bookings your practice can receive in a given month.

  • Adjust budget: This will allow you to increase or decrease your budget. Increasing it will enable your practice to receive more discovery bookings each month.

Pausing your spend

How do I pause my spend?

Pausing discovery bookings means you will not show up in discovery searches for a new provider on Zocdoc or partner sites. No providers at your practice will be able to receive discovery bookings until you unpause your spend.

To pause your spend, click on Manage spend, and then click Pause discovery bookings. Select how long you want to pause discovery bookings.

How do I unpause my spend?

You can unpause your spending by clicking “Unpause discovery bookings” in the yellow banner on your dashboard, or selecting “Unpause your practice spending” after clicking “Manage spend.”

Frequently Asked Questions

I paused discovery bookings or hit my monthly budget, but providers are still getting bookings. Why?

Pausing or turning off discovery bookings means you will not show up in discovery searches for a new provider on Zocdoc or partner sites. You will still be able to receive reputation bookings, which include appointments made by patients specifically seeking them through a partner site, returning patients booking through Zocdoc.com or the Zocdoc app, and patients using your Booking Link. To fully deactivate a provider and stop them from receiving all bookings, please contact service.
