Zocdoc Search Score is a number given to providers based on steps they have taken to perform better in Zocdoc search results. The higher your percentage, the likelier it is that you can reach more new patients. It’s the best way to see how well you are optimized to perform in search and get personalized steps to help you get more new patient bookings.
Search Score is calculated using key factors that are important to patients and contribute to bookings, such as near-term availability, consistent new patient availability, popular visit reasons, and top insurances.
Note:
Practices of 15+ providers will not see a Search Score. Instead, on the Providers & Staff page, you’ll be able to see if your practice can or can’t receive bookings from new patients on the Zocdoc Marketplace.
Some enterprise accounts will not see a Search Score. Ask your account manager for recommendations on how to improve your account.
How do I view my Search Score?
Log into your practice’s dashboard; you will be able to view your providers’ search scores on the top right.
You can then click on each provider to be taken to their page with steps on how to improve their individual Search Score.
What does my score mean?
Each step is weighted differently. Next to each step, we’ve included how much this will boost your chances of showing up more in search.
You can think of your score as an estimate of the relative strength of your account—or how likely it is that new patients can book with you. However, the score is not tied to how often or where you will show up in search. Anything less than 100% means there are steps you can take to improve your performance within Search.
Will patients see my Search Score?
No, patients will not see your Search Score. The Search Score is for your reference only to help you track how well you are optimized to perform in search.
How did Zocdoc come up with the recommendations?
We analyzed our data to see what contributes to providers receiving more new patient bookings on Zocdoc. The components that are now in Search Score surfaced as the most important. The weight of each recommendation is based on how important that step is to getting new patients to book with you.
You will have a Search Score if you can receive bookings from new patients. Otherwise, your score will say N/A or inactive.
Recommendation | Description | Score weighting |
Can receive bookings from new patients | You'll be able to receive new patient bookings if you have:
| 10 points |
Near-term new patient availability | 2+ days of availability in the next 5 days | 15 points |
Consistent new patient availability | At least 1 time slot every 7 days for the next 28 days | 15 points |
Top visit reasons for your specialty | Accept 4 out of the top 5 visit reasons | 30 points |
Top insurances in your area | Accept 5 out of the top 10 insurances | 30 points |
What benefits will I see from reaching 100%?
A 100% score means a provider has taken all recommended steps to perform better in Zocdoc search results. Please note that your Search Score has no bearing on where or how often you appear in search. Rather, your Search Score is meant to be an estimate of how well your account is optimized to perform in search. Higher performance in search may mean that new patients are more likely to book with you. On average, Zocdoc providers with a 100% search score have 5 times more new patient bookings than those with a score below 70%.
I’ve reached 100%. Are there any other actions I can take to improve and get more new patient bookings?
Great work! To stand out more in search, you can earn the Patient Choice badge or use Sponsored Results. You can also get a Book Online Button to make it even more convenient for your patients to book with you; all bookings from this button are free. Check out best practices for Zocdoc Marketplace for more.
Why don’t I have a Search Score?
If you see “N/A” and don’t have a Search Score, new patients cannot book with you.
Only active providers can see their Search Score. To accept new patients, you can take the steps outlined in your provider page to become active and find out your Search Score.
Why does it say “Score unavailable” by my name?
There may be a technical issue with the account. Please email service@zocdoc.com for support.
How often is my score updated?
Your score is calculated in real-time and can always change depending on the actions you take. If you have completed an action but your Search Score has not updated yet, please check back in the next hour.
If your score decreased, you may want to check your availability for this week and over the next 4 weeks. You may have had more availability last week than you do this week, which will impact your score.
