Bookings through Zocdoc's partner sites

Learn more about bookings from our partner sites.

What are partner bookings?

With Zocdoc's network of partners, patients can instantly book with you across trusted sites like Google, Yelp, and insurance directories. These appointments are scheduled online through Zocdoc’s partner sites and can be managed directly from your Zocdoc account. Partner sites help expand your reach to patients that otherwise would not have found you through channels like Zocdoc.com or your website. Learn more about Zocdoc’s partner sites.

How to opt into partner sites

When you join Zocdoc, you will automatically be bookable for reputation bookings on Zocdoc and eligible partner sites. You can turn on discovery bookings to be discovered by new patients looking for care through Zocdoc, including on our partner sites. You pay a discovery booking fee for these bookings. Certain partners have partnered with Zocdoc to make all bookings free to providers, such as insurance directories.

There may be some set up required to be listed on the partner site. For example, to be bookable on Google, you will need to create a Google Business Profile and connect it to Zocdoc.

Note: Providers who are joining from a specific healthcare platform (e.g., Veterans Affairs via WellHive) can remain bookable for that platform only, or choose to become bookable on additional channels.

Tip: Keep your availability updated in your Zocdoc Calendar or integrated EHR — this ensures patients can always book with you, wherever they’re searching for care.

FAQs

What sites does Zocdoc partner with?

Our partner sites range from search engines, insurance directories, review sites, AI platforms, and more. Accessing our partner sites means patients can show up and book with you wherever they search for care.

  • Healthcare platforms (e.g., Blue Shield of California, Veterans Affairs, Anthem, MetroPlusHealth, Invisalign): These platforms – which can include insurance directories, medical directories, and more – have partnered with Zocdoc to make all bookings free to providers.

  • Consumer sites & AI platforms (e.g., Google, Apple, Bing, Gemini, Healthgrades, Yelp, Amazon Health AI): These partners include search engines, review sites, AI platforms, and more. You're only charged for discovery bookings, when Zocdoc helps a patient discover your practice. Reputation bookings, when a patient is searching for your practice or providers by name, are always free.

You can see a list of partners in your Channels page. Bookings from these partner types will also appear in your Performance Dashboard and Appointment Report.

How am I charged?

We believe practices should only pay for the new connections Zocdoc creates. You pay a discovery booking fee when Zocdoc helps patients discover and choose your providers or helps your practice perform better.

How we determine this depends on where the booking happens. On Zocdoc.com and the app, we use whether the patient is new or existing. On partner sites, we also use whether the patient searched for your providers or practice by name. These signals help distinguish patients who were already seeking out your practice from those who discovered you through Zocdoc. All other bookings are free.

Discovery booking fees are charged once for each new patient-provider connection, at the time of booking, and reflect expected cancellation and no-show rates.

Can I receive only free reputation bookings? I don’t want to pay for any bookings from the Zocdoc app or partner sites.

Yes. New practices joining Zocdoc can get started without adding a credit card, and will only receive free reputation bookings from Zocdoc and our partner sites.

If you signed up to be bookable on a specific healthcare platform only (e.g., Veterans Affairs via WellHive), you can choose to remain bookable on that platform only during the sign-up process. Later, you can choose to receive free reputation bookings from more partner sites, and/or add paid discovery bookings to reach more patients.

For existing practices, you can manage whether you’re able to receive discovery bookings by adjusting your practice’s spend cap, or with spend locks for individual providers.

How do I manage appointments and availability for partner sites?

You can manage bookings from partner sites the same way you do for Zocdoc.com bookings. Simply manage availability from your EHR or Zocdoc calendar — updates automatically flow to partner sites. Your availability for patients booking on Zocdoc.com is the same availability that will show across partner sites. Learn how to set up a calendar integration with Zocdoc. Note that some integrations may take a few business days to complete.

Similarly, you can manage appointments from your EHR, if integrated, or from your Zocdoc Calendar or Zocdoc Inbox. Learn more about managing appointments on Zocdoc.

How long does it take to become bookable on partner sites?

If you have a Zocdoc account with availability and are listed on the partner site, you are eligible to be bookable on the partner site. Depending on the partner, Zocdoc may automatically add your availability or it may refresh on a regular cadence that is unique to the given partner’s integration.

Make sure that you have completed any set up steps, if required. For example, you will need to create a Google Business Profile and connect it to Zocdoc to be bookable on Google.

How is the patient notified of the appointment?

The patient will receive an email confirming the details of their upcoming appointment. You can also reach out directly to the patient with additional instructions for their visit.

How can I contact the patient?

If you need to contact the patient you can find contact information in the Patient details tab. Log into Zocdoc, go to Inbox, and select the booking. The appointment card will appear on the right. The Contact Information section contains the patient’s contact information, like their phone number and email address.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule the appointment?

To cancel or reschedule the appointment, visit Inbox or your Zocdoc calendar.

What if the patient needs to reschedule or cancel their appointment?

If a patient needs to reschedule or cancel their appointment, they can do so online – either through the partner site where they initially booked the appointment or on their Zocdoc account, if applicable – or they can contact your office. In the case of Veterans Affairs bookings, your office may receive a call from the care coordinator.

How do I opt out of bookings from a specific partner?

Opting out of a specific partner may mean that you miss out on high-intent patients who find you there. To opt out, please contact our Service team.

If you'd like to opt out of search engines (e.g., Google, Apple), follow these steps.
