“Danielle was excellent in all respects. She was kind, thoughtful, willing to adapt to the quirks in my personality but also willing to gently challenge me. She was very careful to not trigger any reactions that would set back progress but carefully helped me view my situation in a more correct, positive light which was a major improvement. She did not become frustrated, indeed insanely patient, with my inability to access feelings that I have built walls around. SHe both challenged me to try to lower the walls but also helped me understand the walls serve a valuable self-preservation function. This kept my frustration at this inability to access my emotions lower than it otherwise would have been. With her help, I became more open and emotionally honest when communicating with loved ones, and I was able to manage an extremely difficult caregiver situation with my sick wife better than I would have imagined possible. Danielle is a gem, a caring intelligent human and therapist. Cannot recommend her highly enough.”

“Danielle was an incredible and thoughtful therapist. She was very integral in my transition moving from Chicago to New York, specifically the challenges that I faced with the first time I've lived in a metropolitan area, as well as cohabitating with my partner. I also struggled with a lot of trauma from both childhood and adulthood that I never processed. Lastly, being a African-American gay individual in corporate America has also proved to have been challenging to me and my mental health. Danielle assisted me first in identifying all of the latter, and uncovering many things that I have intricately buried, which have impacted me in many ways, leaving me depressed and once reliant upon medication and self medication. After going through the identification phase, we were able to work through these issues meaningfully. It was taken a step further after Danielle identified me as a candidate for EMDR. EMDR proved to be very effective, altering my mood positively, and also allowed me to uncover even more than I was able to during our identification phase. I am beyond grateful and priviledged to have been a client of Danielle's and hope that when I find my next professional opportunity, their insurance plan offering is in-network with myTherapyNYC. I wish Danielle the best and will say that, I'm not saying goodbye, but, see you later.”

Getting to know Danielle Robbins

Sharing your individual difficulties, fears, desires, and dreams can be a challenging experience. Danielle (she/her/hers) acknowledges this and, therefore, focuses on building a warm and safe environment where clients can truly open themselves up for self-discovery and introspection. She believes in building a strong therapist-client relationship and uses a collaborative approach to assist clients in setting and reaching goals. Danielle understands that frequently we have the tools inside of us to heal our struggles and she seeks to help you uncover those tools in therapeutic work. As a queer black woman, she understands it can be tough to find spaces to authentically express your true feelings, as well as get validation and support. Danielle has experience holding space and processing the challenges that can arise from holding multiple marginalized identities. She hopes to support clients on their journeys of personal growth. Danielle primarily takes on a psychodynamic approach, connecting with clients and getting to know them as a whole person. With this perspective, she typically explores deep-rooted patterns for clients to increase their self-understanding. Her therapeutic framework also incorporates cognitive-behavioral and relational therapy modalities to meet clients where they are at and support them with their individual needs. Danielle also emphasizes the client’s expertise on their own life to help them achieve goals, develop self awareness, and facilitate growth. Danielle does not see therapy as one size fits all and her goal is to understand your unique needs so that therapy can be tailored to you. Danielle is interested in helping clients cope with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, LGBTQ+ issues, racial identity issues, self-esteem, body image, and non-monogamy. She has a strong interest in BIPOC mental health and providing affirmative care for those who have not historically had a safe space within the mental health field.

I think EMDR was a better fit for my therapist and I than talk therapy. This may be due to how I intellectualize things so I'm glad she introduced EMDR but once we had worked through everything it felt like a more natural end point as well.
Danielle was a great match for me during a tough transitional time in my life (the loss of my spouse). She was able to listen without judgement to the struggles I faced during the last couple years, and provided resources and tools for me to turn to to create boundaries that would help me honor my grief, yet stay present for family and friends. I highly recommend her for anyone going through a traumatic loss or feeling like they don't have a resource to discuss disenfranchised grief.
Both Danielle and Don (I previously did EMDR with Don McCarthy) were excellent at guiding me and helping me. Both times I felt I was working with experienced caring professionals.
Danielle was absolutely lovely, warm, compassionate, and truly a soul I felt deeply connected with from the very beginning. She has a natural ability to make you feel safe, seen, and understood, which made the therapeutic process feel both supportive and transformative. Danielle is not only a wonderful therapist but also highly skilled at what she does, and her guidance throughout EMDR was invaluable. I feel grateful to have worked with her and know she has made a lasting impact on my healing journey.
Danielle has a calm, grounded aura about her. She taught me to process emotions and to connect with my inner child. After our time together, I have become closer to myself than I've ever been. Danielle offered a safe space every single session. She is patient and endearing. This highly valuable quality will bring her very far and to many types of people. Her aura made it possible for me to unravel and be in the present moment.
I had a great experience with Danielle, she always made it a point to let me speak my mind and allowed me do plenty of self refection because of that.
Danielle is caring and patient during our sessions. She creates a safe space with her ability to listen deeply and ask the right questions.
Danielle is an excellent therapist, extremely empathetic, thoughtful, and intelligent. She is willing to be work with the patient to find the technique that best suits their needs to meet the patient where they are in their journey and to work for optimal results. She creates a safe environment to explore issues and feelings freely. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
