Getting to know Gaitrie Samaroo

Hello there, I am looking forward to working with you. My passion for helping others help themselves guides my practice. I know how past conflicts, present concerns, trauma, relationship challenges, and thoughts can stand in the way of living a well-rounded life. Through therapy, I aim to help you identify and process those experiences, emotions, and challenges. As you grow, I am there to encourage you and help you face new challenges as they arise. I work with clients ages 13 to 64 and treat anxiety, maladaptive coping skills, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, school issues, self-esteem issues, sleep disorders, insomnia, stress, infidelity, trauma, PTSD, women’s issues, and mood disorders. I combine cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and practical coping skills to help you. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College and a Bachelor’s degree from City University of New York, Queens College. If you are seeking a provider who loves facilitating your unique healing processes, whatever they may look like, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My core values are honesty, empathy, and compassion. Everyone is unique, and deserves to be heard and respected on their own terms. I believe this creates a mutual partnership, during which we will create meaningful changes to benefit your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Unhelpful thinking patterns greatly impact feelings about what we experience. I can help identify these patterns, while offering practical coping skills and a personable approach. I often implement techniques from cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and person-centered therapies during sessions. I enjoy providing support to my clients to encourage their growth and manage the challenges they face. I have been told that I approach clients with compassion, understanding, and dedication to walk with them to reach solutions.
