About Dr. Sanya Anand

Dr. Anand is an Internal Medicine physician and a clinical instructor with the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Touro College and University System and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. During her residency, she treated a highly diverse patient population across three hospitals in New York City, including the Brooklyn Veterans Hospital.
Throughout her career, Dr. Anand has been focused on preventative medicine. She has authored several publications centered on cancer screening and health equity through her research at NYU Langone and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Today, Dr. Anand is dedicated to establishing meaningful relationships with her patients, always looking beyond just their symptoms to their entire well-being.

The front desk likes to talk low whilst sitting behind the bench; as if “we” know they’re talking to us (like we’re the dumb dumbs for not understanding.) I struggled at first but proceeded to pull through. We made our way into the room where I still found myself struggling to understand what my nurse was saying. The doctor was very kind but a part of me could tell she was rushed. I forgot to ask some questions because of it. Then comes the bloodwork and the nurse that had no idea where anything was-proceeds to slam cabinets and drawers until I finally get my blood drawn. She hands me the urine sample and I proceed to turn the cup into a warm miller lite. A different nurse comes in to give me my tetanus shot and watches me write my own name and date on my urine sample (idk about you but I’ve never done that). No one says anything other than just “put it in the sink.” I get lost in the office cause there was no one to guide me. Felt like Indiana jones trying to get out of there.

Dr. Anand and Maraya were wonderful! Warm and great because manner. I was super impressed that Dr. Anand had reviewed my previous medical records from a different provider before I arrived for my first appointment with her. I did not feel the needles when Maraya drew my bloodwork and it is usually very hard to find my beyond. Maraya was very adept in finding my beyond. I am thrilled that I found this practice.

Double check that you have a confirmed appointment with them as when I showed up for my morning appointment they said I had to reschedule or cancel. It would’ve been nice to have been contacted by the office beforehand, but there was no communication. Also, they confirmed my appointment from zocdoc three weeks prior, and that didn’t matter.

I had a very smooth experience. I originally booked on Zocdoc (I did also call just to double-check on the insurance). I received confirmation and several reminders leading up the day of the appointment as well as a 'how to prepare for appmt' reference. Also IM and email options to allow pre-registration in advance before arrival day. On entering office (was not too busy on my day) was greeted fairly quickly and, since I already completed registration in advance, had nothing further to fill out and just waited to see the doctor. Had a little wait but not much beyond half hour. Doctor greeted me and lead me to exam room. Communication and interaction went very smoothly, clearly and efficiently. I felt very comfortable from the beginning to the end of the appointment, with both the doctor and the staff and with having a sufficient and productive meeting. I would advise it is definitely useful to read over the 'prep for appmt' information as a guide.
