Appointment cost depends on your insurance plan and the provider you select.
For some appointments booked on Zocdoc, you may be able to see an expected copay or coinsurance.
How does Zocdoc know my expected copay or coinsurance?
When you book an appointment, we request information about your insurance coverage from an insurance clearinghouse. The clearinghouse works directly with insurance companies to track plan status and benefits and shares some details of your insurance plan with Zocdoc.
From there, we determine your expected copay or coinsurance amount based on your plan information and the appointment details, such as the provider specialty and the reason for your appointment.
If you add your member ID or upload a photo of your medical insurance card to your Zocdoc account before booking, it improves our ability to determine your expected copay or coinsurance.
Why can I see my expected copay or coinsurance for some appointments but not for all?
This feature is not yet available for all insurance carriers and specialities. If your insurance carrier or the type of appointment you booked is not yet supported, we are unable to display your expected copay or coinsurance.
