What if I don’t see my insurance listed on Zocdoc?
If you don’t see your insurance plan listed on Zocdoc, you can try uploading a photo of your card (this is only available for medical insurance cards, not vision or dental). We will scan the image of your card and display your likely plan. If you’re having trouble uploading an image of your card, you can contact our service team.
Does Zocdoc require me to upload a photo of my insurance card?
Adding a photo of your medical insurance card can help you correctly select your insurance plan on Zocdoc, but no, this isn’t required. If you choose not to upload a photo of your medical insurance card, you can add your insurance information to your account by manually picking your plan from a list.
If I add my insurance to my account, should I still bring my card to my appointment?
Yes, adding your insurance information to your Zocdoc account makes it easier for you to find in-network providers. But many offices still require you to bring your insurance card to your appointment.
Is my insurance card secure with Zocdoc?
Absolutely. Keeping your information secure is a top priority for us. We follow industry best practices when it comes to protecting your information. You can read more about how Zocdoc handles data and privacy here.
What if I have more than one insurance plan?
You can add insurance plans for medical, dental, and vision to your Zocdoc account.
However, you can only search for and book an appointment with one insurance plan at a time. If you have multiple insurance plans, you can mention your secondary carrier and plan in your notes for the provider in the last step of the booking process.
If your provider uses Zocdoc’s Intake forms, you can add secondary insurance when you fill out your forms online.
What if I don’t want to share my insurance with my provider?
When booking an appointment on Zocdoc, you will be asked either to enter your insurance information or confirm that you’re paying out-of-pocket. If you don’t want to share your insurance or don’t plan to use it for your visit, select “I’m paying for myself” during the booking process. This lets the provider know that you’ll be paying out-of-pocket. Keep in mind that some providers require insurance information to book an appointment. If a provider doesn’t accept out-of-pocket bookings, you can choose a different provider on Zocdoc.
