At Zocdoc, we dedicate our days to helping our patients access great care quickly during their real sick days. But today, we’re also celebrating the ultimate faux sick day.
This week marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the most famous fake sick day in film history. Three decades later, people still love the film, and a survey Zocdoc recently conducted shows that many would follow in Ferris’s footsteps: nearly 2 in 5 (39%) Americans said they would be willing to make up a reason to get out of work for a wellness or personal day.
To pay homage to this beloved movie, Zocdoc is launching a Sick Day Excuse Generator. Starting today, those who want to tip their hat to the film – or perhaps even take a page out of Ferris’s book – can visit SickDayExcuse.com and generate a personalized excuse. Whether it’s a severe case of The Flakes (Noncommittal Socialitus*) from an excess of weekend social options or EOS (Excel Overload Syndrome*) caused by handling too many spreadsheets, the Sick Day Excuse Generator can easily help you find and share the perfect Bueller-style excuse.
Join us in celebrating by giving it a try and sharing your excuse with the hashtag #Ferris30Years.
*Note: Conditions created by Zocdoc’s generator are extremely rare ailments that we totally made up.
About the Survey
The Zocdoc survey was conducted by Kelton Global among nationally representative Americans ages 18 and over using an e-mail invitation and an online survey. The survey was fielded from May 19 – 23, 2016 to 1,022 nationally representative respondents. Margin of error for this study is +/- 3.1 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level; the margin of error for any subgroups will be slightly higher.
