Zocdoc Sales Tax Collection FAQs
Please note that the information provided here is not intended to be construed as tax advice or legal advice or guaranteeing any particular tax treatment or tax consequence. Please consult an attorney or tax expert if you have any questions with respect to tax or legal considerations.
There have been recent changes to the sales tax laws that affect e-commerce companies like Zocdoc. As a result, Zocdoc began to collect and remit sales tax on elements of its service in certain states, net any state-specific exemptions.
The sales tax rate will be determined by the primary business address that Zocdoc has on file at the time of billing for each practice. Zocdoc will collect sales tax for each provider in a practice, regardless of the provider’s location, if the practice’s primary business address is in a taxable state.
Sales tax due will be automatically calculated and added to each invoice that contains a license fee charge. There will be no separate invoice just for sales tax.
Practices who are exempt from paying sales tax should provide a valid and signed tax exemption certificate to Zocdoc at service@zocdoc.com. By submitting a tax exemption certification, you certify and attest to the accuracy of the information contained in the certificate, and indemnify Zocdoc for its reliance upon such information in determining yours and its tax obligations.
