This was my first time visiting Dr. Haimoff's office. I walked in and gave my name and let the receptionist know that I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment. She asked the necessary questions, gave me a form to fill out. Shortly after that I was called into the back for other things that needed to be done prior to seeing the doctor. Once the doctor called me into his office, he was very pleasant. I felt at ease with him, and did not once feel as if he was trying to get me out of his office. He ask questions, and as I responded, that information was keyed into the system. He asked me if I had any questions, etc. It was one of the best office visits I've had with a primary doctor in quite a while. I was very pleased.

Dr Galstian was lovely. We did a comprehensive check up. She gave me a referral, and we spoke about some important supplements to aid my autoimmune disease. I would recommend her after my first visit.

Primary Care Doctors NYC

A primary care doctor (PCP) is generally the first healthcare professional that a patient sees for common, non-emergency problems. They are the doctors involved in your overall care. Generally, visits to a PCP involve health checkups, diagnosis and treatment of common problems, medical advice for your concerns, and managing chronic illnesses like diabetes. Not only do they provide preventive care, but they also refer you to medical specialists when needed.

You can choose your primary care provider from the following types of PCPs:

How to choose your PCP

Your primary care doctor is the constant point of contact for your general well-being. Primary care doctors are able to provide comprehensive care, because they get well-versed with your medical records over time, and changing PCPs frequently might not be ideal for your care. It is important that you keep the following factors in mind while choosing a PCP:

  • Office hours: Check the doctor’s availability to see if their appointment time slots are well-suited for you in the long run.
  • Location: Ensure the doctor’s office is located at a convenient location.
  • Insurance: If you are not paying out-of-pocket, it is important to ensure that your PCP accepts your insurance. You can find a list of in-network doctors on Zocdoc; simply filter your search with the respective insurance carrier and plan.
  • Type of PCP: Pick a type of PCP depending on the nature of your needs.
  • Patient reviews: While booking on Zocdoc, it is easy to browse through trustworthy patient reviews. These reviews can help give you an idea of a doctor’s style of practice.
