How do I find a doctor who takes my insurance?

How to search with insurance and find in-network doctors on Zocdoc.

Updated over 2 years ago

When searching for care on Zocdoc, you can add your insurance information to see providers who are in-network with your plan.

During the search process, you can add your insurance information by choosing your carrier (another name for your insurance company) and plan (the specific coverage you have with that carrier).

If you’re searching for care on your phone or with the Zocdoc app, you’ll have the option to upload a photo of your medical insurance card. (This option isn’t available for dental or vision plans.) We’ll scan your card and display your likely insurance plan.

By adding your insurance information, you’ll get results that show you which providers are in-network and out-of-network.

To see accurate in-network providers, it’s important to select the correct insurance plan when searching for care on Zocdoc.

If you already have a Zocdoc account, you can add your insurance information to your Zocdoc account so that all of your searches will show whether providers are in-network or out-of-network with your plan.

Do I have to enter my insurance information?

You can search without insurance, but your search results will not display which providers are in-network or out-of-network. When booking, you will need to either add your insurance information or acknowledge that you’re paying for your appointment out-of-pocket.

How does Zocdoc verify that a provider accepts my insurance?

We know that finding an in-network provider is a priority for many patients. While our providers are expected to keep their insurance listings accurate at all times, we have additional steps in place to ensure you see accurate results on Zocdoc. You can learn more about this through our Insurance Advocacy page.
