Dr. Van Susteren is an American psychiatrist in Washington, DC and environmental activist. She received her medical degree in 1982 from the University of Paris.
She interned at Hospital St. Anne, American Hospital of Paris, and at Hospital Tokoin in Lomé, Togo. She completed residency training in psychiatry at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Van Susteren is board certified in general & forensic psychiatry. She has worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University Dept. of Psychiatry, and at community mental health centers in the greater DC area.
Dr. Van Susteren takes a holistic approach to her practice - believing that psychotherapy is just as important as prescribing medication. For this reason, she does not see people for medication purposes only.
