Hi, I’m Natalie Ayala, LMSW. I create a warm, supportive, and approachable space for people navigating stress, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, burnout, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I understand that life — especially in New York City — can feel fast, heavy, and emotionally exhausting, particularly when you’re trying to heal while still managing work, kids, relationships, responsibilities, and everyday life.
My approach is humanistic, collaborative, and culturally aware. I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation — not cold, overly clinical, or judgmental. My goal is to help you feel safe enough to slow down, reflect, process your experiences, and better understand yourself without pressure to have everything figured out.
With years of experience in hospital and community mental health settings throughout New York City, I’ve supported individuals through crisis, grief, emotional distress, burnout, and major life changes. I integrate supportive therapy, emotional processing, mindfulness, and practical coping tools to help you build self-awareness, healthier patterns, emotional resilience, and a stronger connection to yourself and others.
I don’t believe healing is about becoming a completely different person. I believe it’s about building capacity for the hard stuff, and learning how to care for yourself with honesty, intention, and most important compassion.

Natalie has been a lifeline for my mental health as a woman of color. With so much unrest going on in the world day to day, I know I can count on my session with her to be my respite and peace from the outside noise. She is kind, patient, and always ready and willing to offer up solutions/give you a different perspective on any situation you may be going through. As someone who lives with a layered racial identity (Afro-Latina), she comes with wisdom on how to navigate life's curveballs. I've had other therapists who just sit and listen session after session without giving me any advice or welcomed commentary on how I should approach certain situations. With Natalie I feel heard, seen, and most of all safe.

Finding a therapist can be incredibly challenging, so I’m very grateful to have found Natalie Ayala. I personally prefer a solution focused approach to therapy, where there is genuine curiosity about the topic at hand rather than simply discussing feelings without direction. Natalie creates a space that feels warm, compassionate, and supportive, while also being honest and willing to hold up a mirror when needed. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a clinician who balances empathy with thoughtful insight.
