Frequently Asked Questions

How will this be reflected on my monthly bill?

Your bill will contain credits that reflect any no-shows and patient-initiated cancellations you received in the previous month. For example, let’s say a practice receives 10 new patient bookings in May and pays $110 per new patient booking. If one of those bookings was a no-show and two were patient-initiated cancellations, the practice would be charged $1,110 for its May bookings and then receive a credit of $330, which would be applied to their bill for June.

Where can I see how much credit I have ahead of my upcoming bill?

You can see how much credit you have by going to the ‘Billing’ tab within your Zocdoc account. On the right hand side, underneath ‘View my Bill’, click on the most recent invoice. You’ll see the amount of credits that will apply to your upcoming bill towards the bottom of your invoice.

How do I mark a no-show on Zocdoc?

Find the appointment on the Zocdoc Calendar. Click the down arrow next to ‘Confirmed’. Then click ‘Mark as a No Show’. Note that only confirmed bookings can be marked as no-shows.

How long do I have to mark a no-show to receive a credit?

In order to receive a credit through this program, the no-show needs to be marked within 7 days of the confirmed appointment time.

I’m not being given an option to mark a booking as a no-show. Why not?

No-shows can only be marked after an appointment has passed, and the booking must have been confirmed prior to the appointment occurring. No-shows that occur on unconfirmed bookings are not eligible to receive a credit.

Will I have to pay for no-shows and cancellations next year?

Yes, at this time, the COVID-19 Recovery Program is set to end on Dec 31, 2021.

Will I get credits for cancellations that my practice initiates?

No, credits will only apply to patient-initiated cancellations and no-shows. Click here for more information.

I’m a dentist outside of D.C., MD and VA who was also impacted by COVID-19. When will this be available in my region?

The COVID-19 Recovery Program is currently only applicable to a small group of practices in limited geographies and specialties. At this time we have no plans to offer this to practices in other regions and/or with different specialties.

Will I have to pay for no-shows and cancellations next year?

The COVID-19 Recovery Program will run through Dec 31, 2021. Beginning on January 1, 2022, you will be charged consistent with our standard billing policies.

Do you have any plans to make this a more permanent policy?

Not at this time. This program is focused on helping the DMV dental market recover from COVID-19 losses. We are always looking for ways to improve the Zocdoc platform for you, and will communicate with you if there are any changes to our policy.

I was more heavily impacted by this in 2020. Is there anything we can do about those no-shows or cancellations?

Unfortunately, no. We’re only able to offer credits from June 2021 for DMV dental practices who opt into the COVID-19 Recovery Program by June 30, 2021. Click here for more information.
