Updating past appointments

Learn what can and cannot be changed on past appointments

After an appointment time has passed, you cannot change the appointment date, time, visit reason, provider, location, or status. The only action available is marking the patient as a no-show (within 48 hours). If you need to correct something on a past appointment, you can contact our Service team.

What can I do after an appointment has passed?

  • Mark a patient as a no-show β€” You can do so within 48 hours. Learn how.

  • View appointment details β€” past appointment details remain accessible in your Zocdoc Calendar.

What cannot be changed?

You cannot modify the appointment date or time, visit reason, provider assigned, appointment status (other than no-show), or location. These can only be modified for upcoming appointments. Learn how.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel a past appointment?

No. Appointments that have already occurred cannot be cancelled retroactively.

Can I change the status of an old appointment?

No. The only status change available for past appointments is marking a no-show within 48 hours.

When does the no-show option expire?

You can mark a patient as a no-show 48 hours after the appointment time. After that, the option is no longer available.

I accidentally marked a patient as a no-show. Can I undo it?

Yes. Contact our Service team to help undo the no-show, so the patient's account is not negatively impacted.
