Communications shortly after patients book

Email with appointment details

After booking, patients are sent an email with details of their appointment. Selecting Prepare for your appointment will redirect them to a page with the appointment details, where they can add their insurance card images as well as forms and IDs, if you’ve requested them.

Reminder to submit intake information

Right after patients book, Zocdoc sends a text message to patients to complete intake information via a secure link. By default, they will be asked to upload an image of their insurance card. You can also opt to request government IDs and to complete your office forms. 72% of new patients upload their information before the appointment. Learn more about setting your intake preferences.

Notification about Zocdoc’s cancellation policy

Within a few hours of a patient booking an appointment, Zocdoc may also send a text message to remind patients to uphold their appointment time, or to cancel within the next 24 hours if needed.

Reminders leading up to the appointment

Email reminders

Patients are sent reminder emails 7 days and 1 day before their appointment.

Text message reminders

  • The day of their scheduled visit, patients are sent a text message 3 hours prior to their appointment time.

  • Zocdoc Video Service appointments receive two additional SMS reminders: 15 minutes before the start time, and at the start of their appointment time.

Intake reminders

Zocdoc automatically sends a reminder 48 hours, 24 hours, and 90 minutes ahead of the appointment to patients who have not completed their intake requests yet, such as uploading images of their insurance cards, government IDs, and/or completing office forms. These will not be sent if the patient has completed all their Intake tasks.

Reminder to confirm attendance

All of your patients will receive a patient confirmation message via SMS and email 48 hours before the appointment, asking them to confirm their attendance. Learn more about patient confirmation messages.
