Scaling 30 years of care: Metro Dermatology doubled online bookings with Zocdoc's Website Scheduling

Talk to SalesHow an established practice modernized its digital front doors to boost patient growth
Over the past three decades, Metro Dermatology built a reputation for patient-centered care across the New York metropolitan area, growing to 19 providers across six locations. For Metro, accessibility has always come first, from placing clinics near public transit to offering multilingual care tailored to New York and New Jersey’s diverse communities, says Chanju Won, Marketing Team Manager.
As the practice continues to grow, extending that accessibility to the digital scheduling experience has become essential. Getting noticed online was only the first step. If patients had to pick up the phone during office hours or wait for a callback just to make an appointment, many simply looked elsewhere.
Metro Dermatology needed a better way to attract new patients, clear booking bottlenecks, and understand which marketing efforts were truly driving their growth.

“Our approach is never to do everything at once,” Kim says. “That way, you don’t know what really works or not. That’s why we wanted to slowly increase the numbers and activate certain features at specific times. It’s great to see the results actually speak for themselves.”
The team introduced online booking features one at a time, tracked performance, and used the results to guide what came next. Each solution helped remove friction from a different part of the patient journey. Zocdoc helped Metro Dermatology be discovered by patients already searching for a new provider on the Zocdoc app and partner sites.
But those looking specifically for Metro Dermatology’s providers — or landing directly on their website — still faced friction when trying to schedule. Patients had to call the office or fill out a form, creating delays for people booking after hours and adding administrative burden for front-desk staff.
To remove those friction points, Metro worked with Zocdoc to upgrade their search presence and website booking experience.
By adding Zocdoc-powered booking to their Google Business Profiles, Metro Dermatology made it easy for patients to move directly from search results to scheduled appointments.
Website Scheduling created a seamless booking experience on Metro Dermatology’s own website, allowing patients to search providers, locations, insurance plans, and appointment availability without leaving the practice’s site or creating a separate Zocdoc account.
Zocdoc also partnered with Metro Dermatology beyond implementation, reviewing the practice’s website and recommending changes to make scheduling easier to find and directly driving higher conversion.

When Website Scheduling launched, Kim noticed an immediate difference. “I must say I was shocked,” he says. “Over the first month, our website bookings doubled. We were quite happy.”
The combined strategy produced measurable results. Website Scheduling eliminated barriers to booking, driving a 31% increase in conversion. This turned existing patient demand into measurable growth — more than doubling average weekly bookings. Google became a stronger acquisition channel. Patients coming from Google Business Profiles completed bookings 40% more often after Metro simplified the scheduling experience.
Behind all of these numbers was a clear view of performance. By introducing the Zocdoc app and partner sites, followed by Website Scheduling, Metro Dermatology could measure the distinct impact of each investment and confidently scale what worked.
These improvements gave Metro Dermatology a predictable driver for long-term practice growth.
“Ultimately, leadership is interested in revenue — and patient volume drives that,” Kim says. “We use new patient numbers to project our financial growth.”
