The AI Exam Room
Patients are using AI. So are their doctors. Is healthcare ready for both?

Live roundtable on AI, access, and the future of care
Tuesday, Sept 22 at 12 PM (noon) ET

The exam room used to have two people in it. Now there’s an algorithm on each side of the table — and we’re all still figuring out how to keep the care human.

Zocdoc brings together four leaders across policy, medicine, technology, and operations to examine how AI is changing care, from the first sign of symptoms all the way through the exam room door.

The discussion will feature perspectives from America’s first Chief Technology Officer, findings from Zocdoc’s new AI-Informed Patient report, and insights from forthcoming clinical research on how patient-facing AI shapes trust between doctors and patients.

AI is rapidly reshaping the exam room. Can it change who gets care in the first place?

The Panel

Aneesh Chopra - The first U.S. Chief Technology Officer and a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee, Aneesh focuses on health data and how technology connects patients to care. He brings a system-level view of where access breaks down across the patient journey, and what it takes for AI to direct patients toward the right care.
Adam Rodman, MD, MPH, FACP - A practicing physician at Beth Israel Deaconess and faculty member at Harvard Medical School, Adam studies how AI is changing what happens between patients and doctors. He turns his clinical and research work into a firsthand view on how AI-informed patients actually show up, where AI helps versus adds risk, and findings from his trial of patient-facing AI built to strengthen the doctor-patient relationship.
Alex Doyne - Drawing on everything Zocdoc has learned about how patients search and book, Alex connects the discussion back to AI’s impact on access and scheduling: how directory accuracy, real appointment availability, and connecting patients to the right provider decide whether patient intent actually turns into a booked visit.
Sam Blumenthal - The creator of the AI-Informed Patient report, Sam leads external communications at Zocdoc to amplify its aim to power access to care everywhere patients search. She'll moderate the conversation, using the report to frame the session and guide the panel across the full journey to care: from patient behavior to practice operations to what leaders should do next.
