Insurance Settings: Better Tools to Feel Confident in Your Setup

Patients come to Zocdoc because they’re looking for in-network care. Zocdoc uses the information in providers’ insurance settings to let patients know whether a provider is in-network. However, with thousands of plans offered by hundreds of carriers, it’s difficult to know you’ve listed all the right plans–and none of the wrong ones.

Our latest insurance improvements help practices feel confident in their settings with a quick summary of their selections, flexible editing tools, and notifications when we identify missing in-network plans based on payor data.

One clean view with flexible editing

Insurance settings now offer a simpler view of the carriers you’ve selected, so you can quickly assess whether you need to make any updates. Plans for each carrier are organized by program (like commercial or ACA marketplace) and plan type (like PPO or HMO), so you can identify where you need to update your settings.

“[The new Insurance Settings] are categorized and simple, so it saves me a lot of time in making sure that we’re adding the right type of insurance and that we’re up to date with everything.” – Practice manager, Mental Health, Chicago

Whether you need to add a new carrier, add missing networks or plans for an existing carrier, or remove a single plan you’re no longer in-network with, you have the flexibility to make the changes you need to ensure your settings accurately reflect your contracts.

Visual cues so providers and patients know they’re in-network

As long as you’ve listed accurate insurance information on Zocdoc, we will signal to patients that your practice is in-network. When patients book, you can see their carrier and plan information right away on the appointment card, as well as whether they are in- or out-of-network.

What’s coming next: improving accuracy with payor data

Zocdoc is enhancing its capabilities to notify you of changes to your contracts and assist you in updating your settings using trusted data directly from payors. Expect more in the coming months as we roll out additional features to help practices improve their insurance set-up, such as alerts when we identify plans you’re in-network with that are missing from your profile.

Eliminating the insurance headache for both providers and patients is a win-win. With the latest updates to insurance settings, you can view a simple summary of your selections for each carrier and make edits at the level of detail you need to accurately reflect your contracts–including individual plans. Now, you can feel even more confident that you have the right insurance listed so patients know when you’re in-network.

To check your insurance settings, log into Zocdoc and select Your Name, then Settings, and finally, the Insurance tab.
