SR Psychological Services, P.C.
SR Psychological Services, P.C. is a licensed psychology and counseling practice in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, offering in-person therapy at 303 Fifth Avenue, Suite 502, New York, NY 10016, and secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth (online therapy) for eligible clients in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Founded on June 15, 2012 by Dr. Shatiece Riley, licensed psychologist, the practice has served New York City for more than a decade with individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, psychological assessment, and psychological consultation for adults.
We are a group of caring and compassionate doctoral-level and master's-level clinicians, including licensed psychologists (Ph.D. and Psy.D.), licensed mental health counselors (LMHC), and mental health counselors with limited permits (MHC-LP) practicing under supervision. Our clinicians have experience treating a wide range of psychological concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and work-related stress. We work collaboratively with you to develop a plan of care that reduces the symptoms affecting you, promotes healing, and supports lasting emotional, cognitive, and behavioral change.
OUR PHILOSOPHY: MATCHED, NOT ASSIGNED
At SR Psychological Services, clients are matched with a therapist rather than simply assigned to the next available opening. Finding the right therapist in NYC involves more than picking a name from a list. Your concerns, goals, schedule, preferred appointment format (in-person or telehealth), language preference, and any preferences about your clinician's background can all shape who you work with.
Dr. Shatiece Riley, founder of the practice, conducts the initial clinical screening for new clients and personally guides the matching process. Based on what you share, the practice recommends a clinician whose training, clinical focus, availability, and licensure are a good fit for your needs. Treatment plans are built collaboratively with you and revisited as therapy progresses, so your care stays aligned with your goals.
We also believe in practicing within our areas of clear expertise. If a concern falls outside what our team treats, we will tell you and help you consider an appropriate referral.
HOW TO GET STARTED
1. Book a free 15-minute consultation. This is a short introductory conversation, not a therapy session or full evaluation. You can share what is bringing you to therapy, ask practical questions, and discuss availability.
2. Complete your intake screening. Our structured intake helps us understand your concerns, goals, and preferences so we can recommend an appropriate clinician and service.
3. Get matched with your therapist. Recommendations depend on clinical fit, availability, licensure, location, and the type of service requested.
4. Begin therapy. Most clients start with weekly 45- to 50-minute sessions, either in person at our Midtown Manhattan office or by secure video telehealth.
You do not need a prior diagnosis to begin therapy with us. If it would help clarify what you are experiencing, our licensed psychologists can include a psychological assessment as part of your care.
ONLINE THERAPY AND TELEHEALTH IN NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, AND FLORIDA
SR Psychological Services offers secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients located in New York State, New Jersey, and Florida. Virtual therapy follows the same clinical standards as in-person care. Telehealth can be a practical option if you have a demanding work schedule, travel frequently, live outside Manhattan, have mobility or transportation challenges, or simply feel more comfortable meeting from home.
Online therapy is available for individual therapy, couples therapy, and other services where clinically appropriate. Because therapists must be licensed in the state where you are located at the time of your session, telehealth availability depends on the clinician's licensure and your location. Our team will confirm eligibility during the consultation.
Clients across New York State, including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester, the Hudson Valley, and Upstate New York, can access virtual therapy with our New York-licensed clinicians. Eligible clients in New Jersey and Florida can also meet with appropriately licensed clinicians by video.
IN-PERSON THERAPY IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
Our office is located at 303 Fifth Avenue, Suite 502, New York, NY 10016, at Fifth Avenue and East 31st Street. The office is accessible from Penn Station, Herald Square, Grand Central Terminal, Bryant Park, and major subway lines, making it a convenient choice for clients who live or work in Midtown, NoMad, Koreatown, Murray Hill, Flatiron, Kips Bay, Gramercy, Chelsea, and surrounding Manhattan neighborhoods, as well as commuters from New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester.
THERAPY SERVICES WE OFFER
Individual Therapy: Private one-on-one psychotherapy provides a consistent, confidential space to explore emotions, patterns, and personal goals with a licensed clinician. Individual therapy can address a specific concern, such as anxiety or depression, or broader goals such as self-understanding and personal growth.
Couples Therapy: Couples therapy helps committed partners work on communication, recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust, and other relationship concerns in a structured setting. Both partners attend sessions together with a licensed clinician. Couples therapy is available in person and through telehealth.
Group Therapy: Group sessions bring people together around shared concerns, guided by a clinician. Groups offer support, skill-building, and the opportunity to learn from others facing similar experiences.
Online Therapy: Secure video sessions for eligible clients in New York, New Jersey, and Florida who prefer to meet remotely or need greater scheduling flexibility.
Psychological Assessment: Psychological assessment uses structured evaluation methods to better understand specific clinical, cognitive, emotional, attention-related, or diagnostic questions. Assessment can help clarify a diagnosis and inform treatment planning.
Psychological Consultation: A consultation can help clarify a concern, review available options, or determine whether a particular service or referral is appropriate.
Career Counseling: Support for navigating career decisions, high-pressure work environments, burnout, and professional transitions.

I am not sure it is appropriate for this specific provider to be on zocdoc. Dr. Riley is in a group practice. The office has a number of providers and booking an appointment with her directly through zocdoc expecting that you will meet with her during the time scheduled is misguided. The office contacts you to complete paperwork for the remote platform. Then they ask you to complete a phone screening. I specifically selected Dr. Riley because I wanted a Black woman psychologist. I agreed to a compromise after being screened by another psychologist. He noted an opening the next day -- no appointment was actually available on the day I had selected and that was confirmed by the office. It was highly frustrating because I was not available during the time he proposed and he actually did not have availability again for more than a week and was not consistently available for weekly therapy. The bait and switch really rubbed me the wrong way. My time was not valued. They were nice, not kind.

I had a great experience with this practice. The initial call, which was a phone screen and short evaluation, was a pleasant experience. It offered me insight and allowed me to determine the best provider that would align with my needs and areas of treatment. I was able to connect with a therapist the next day, and she has been a great fit so far. The initial assessment is key, so make sure you take the time and try to answer the questions as clearly and as detailed as you can. So far it's been a great experience and I am looking forward to working with mt therapist.

I initially booked with Dr. Shatiece, however, she contacted me and informed me she only did the initial assessments and would match me up with another suitable provider. I was a little disappointed at first as I was expecting to meet with her and had chosen her based on her ZocDoc profile, but I was still, ultimately satisfied with the provider I was matched up with.

First visit today. She was very nice, asked good questions. We spoke about a plan I liked tgst very much. She was encouraging.
August 8, 2023Donna P.Verified patient
NEVER AGAIN. This is why I never looked for help from a therapist. They took down all my information, everything I was going through I told them, I even broke down a little while talking to her because of all the things I was going through. So Riley typed up everything I needed help with and said someone is going to contact me with a time that would be suitable for me. I texted them but never got any call back or text back about the time that worked for me so they have all my information there for what?
Someone finally comes out of their head and try to get help and there’s no follow up? Not even a call as to if I’m going to follow up, NO, I will follow up with a more professional therapist that is really looking to help those and put their license to use.
