About Dr. Cristina Teixeira

Dr. Cristina Teixeira is former Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her Dental Medicine Doctor’s Degree, a Masters Degree in Oral Biology, and a certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Teixeira is a world-renowned expert in bone growth and tooth movement. She is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and universities around the world. Her research has been supported by different foundations and by grants from the National Institute of Health. Her approach for early interceptive orthodontic treatment takes advantage of the child growth and modifies it to correct jaw position and size, and allow permanent teeth to erupt well-aligned. This approach, inspired by Dr. Teixeira’s research, avoids tooth extractions and the need for braces in the majority of cases.
