Dr. Julia Batres was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Germantown, MD. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Batres further completed a general practice residency in Washington D.C. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she treated veterans with complex medical conditions and extensive dental needs. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Maryland State Dental Assocation.
Dr. Batres practices all aspects of dentistry, with particular emphasis on root canal therapy, extractions, fillings, crown and bridge, implant restoration, removable prosthodontics, and periodontal treatment. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and likes to explain treatment options in a way that keeps the patient educated, active, and involved with their own treatment plan. She takes great satisfaction in taking the time to counsel patients to help them achieve and maintain a bright and healthy smile.
While in dental school she completed a summer internship, called “Bridging the Gaps”, where she assisted members of the community in attaining oral health education and awareness. She also volunteered her dental services for the residents of Mavis Bank, Jamaica on a week-long dental mission trip.
Dr.Batres understands that many patients are hesistant about dental procedures and makes every effort to make patients comfortable so their experience in the dental chair is not an unpleasant one. She encourages patients to bring an Ipod or MP3 player so they can listen to their favorite music during treatment.
In her spare time, Dr. Batres enjoys jogging, kickboxing, cooking, spending time with her husband and their Dachshund Vienna.

I had a great experience from the second i booked an appointment up until i left the office, I was in pain and needed my wisdom teeth to be extracted, the wonderful staff was soo helpful and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of, after the Xray doctor Batres recommended a surgery and her staff was wonderful and found me an urgent appointment with oral surgeon in the same building so i dont have to go thru one more day in pain, they are definitely my new dentist office

Dr. Batres was very kind, and she explained everything very clearly. I felt much more confident with her than the past 3 dentists I've been to, and she identified the problem quickly. I was seen almost immediately and Dr. Batres was extremely comforting. I had never had a crown before, so I had plenty of questions, which she was more than willing to answer. Her Dental Assistant was also extremely pleasant!

Very kind, considerate and professional. Made the ordeal of an emergent root canal a lot less frightening - referred me to a good endodontist to perform the procedure, and then took me as her patient for the crown fitting and placement. Great staff in her office saw me on the same day when I called and said I'd accidentally broken my temporary crown and every time I've been there I've waited no longer than 15-20 minutes. A+, highly recommended.

The field of dentistry is afloat with professionals that underestimate or have no connection with patient needs. This practice, in particular Dr. Weddon,DDS, seemed to comprehend requirements, suggest and implement a strategy for good dental health and ignore all the subtleties of a not so perfect smile. Well - after the visit the smile improved because honest advice was provided. When patients and practitioners work in concert everyone benefits. Reassuring to find this dental resource in Frederick County. Don't forget to ask Irene about Pizza!!

Being the first time there with a bit of a dental emergency. Dr Batres was reassuring and professional. I think I will be choosing this office as my regular dentist. Everyone in the office was very personable and it made a trip to the dentist alittle bit better.

I've never been more impressed with an entire office. When a problem was identified, even though she didn't have time in her schedule to address it that day, the Dentist that runs the group made time in his and I had the most painless procedure ever. I've always hated going to dentists...but I'm not concerned about going back anymore. I'm sold This is a GREAT practice!!!

I was really nervous about going to the dentist, I always am. She is a new dentist for me and my son due to an insurance switch. Great visit! Her office is immaculate, decorated in a very soothing and stylish manner, she explained to me everything she was doing and I felt very relaxed, We definitely have a new dentist! Everyone was really nice, from the front office staff to the assistants. Almost wish I had of lost my old insurance earlier so I could find her.
