About Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey
Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey, DMD, graduated from Oregon Health & Science University in 1997 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She currently serves as a part-time affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. She has been serving the Seattle area since then. With close to 30 years of experience, she strives to provide the highest quality care to all her patients. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and performing general dentistry, from basic restorations to cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and root canals. Dr. Harvey stays current with the latest techniques and technology in dentistry. She is committed to quality, long-lasting care and values the personal relationships she builds with her patients.

"Staying in Iran was not a choice, it was just a surrender." - Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey on her refugee experience.
I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. In my first 16 years, I experienced the Islamic Revolution of 1978 and nine years of the Iran/Iraq war, which brought countless days and nights of bombing and horrific nightmares. Being a member of the Baha'i faith took away any legal rights. At 16, I left my homeland for a better life. I escaped to Pakistan, received asylum through the United Nations, and came to the United States as a refugee in 1989.
I completed dental school in Portland, Oregon. After graduation, I moved to Seattle in 1997 and took a job at SeaMar Community Health Centers, gaining priceless experience serving underserved, low-income patients, immigrants, and farmworkers for four years. During this time, I also met my husband, David Harvey, MD.
Besides enjoying time with my family, I enjoy painting, hiking, traveling, soccer, tennis, and music. I am a proud mother of three children: Zachary, 22; Parisa, 19; and Sheyda, 12.

My only complaint was that I wasn’t aware of patient parking beforehand (it’s behind the building). I had to park a few blocks away and run in the rain. Otherwise, my hygienist was great - explained everything as she went and did her best to make sure I was comfortable. The doctor was quick and professional.
