Dr. Baston is a Florida native who attended the University of Florida, where she majored in Food Science and Human Nutrition. She was then granted a merit based scholarship to continue her studies at New York University College of Dentistry, where she was an active member of the Hispanic Student Dental Association, completed an Honors in Orthodontics Program, and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Dental Honors society.
After receiving her degree as a General Dentist, Dr. Baston completed her residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her additional training enabled her to gain experience treating medically complex patients, respond to dental emergencies, and participate in community outreach in the East Harlem area.
Dr. Baston is dedicated to making you feel comfortable while providing you with the highest quality dental care. She is Invisalign certified, fluent in Spanish, a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Society and New York County Dental Society.

The staff was very warm and friendly (highly apologetic about the slight wait time). The doctor was very professional and helped explain each process we went through clearly and made sure to tell me how much things cost before I agreed to them (which many doctors don't think to do).

I am petrified of the dentist. Dr. Baston recognized this and was exceptional. As a new patient with a dental emergency she took time to explain what was happening and the next steps to achieving a truly healthy smile. Cleaning was gentle and was pivotal in me overcoming a juvenile fear.

Dr. Baston herself was great, the office staff were pretty disorganized, however. I filled out my insurance forms on ZocDoc but they still called me for this information and later had me fill it out in the office again. They also rescheduled and reconfirmed my appointment twice. I ended up on the phone with the office about 6 times in one week. This was not great, especially since ZocDoc's goal is to streamline the appointment process. Also, the process of getting my x-rays took a while - seems like they have a number of kinks to work out in the office.

Dr. Baston rushed through my cleaning - did not feel thorough, but rather haphazard and not very gentle - she jammed tools into my gums throughout the cleaning. She was also dismissive of my concerns and was unconcerned about the stream of water pouring out the side of my mouth and down my neck, even when I mentioned. Would not recommend and will look for a new dentist (although her hygienist and receptionist were super friendly).

I was not terribly happy with my experience. First, the technician taking the X-rays on my mouth seemed inexperienced because she was causing tremendous pain each time she took an X-ray. The next day I figure out that the roof of my mouth is scraped and sore from the metal pieces she put in during the X-ray, which I have never had happen before and I have had plenty of dental X-rays. Another odd thing at the appointment was that the dentist was the one who actually cleaned my teeth. Every appointment I've ever had a hygienist does the cleaning and the dentist comes in at the end to make sure you do not have any cavities, etc. However, the dentist was the one who did everything (besides the x-rays) from the very beginning.
The office was nice, staff was friendly, and I didn't have to wait, but overall I thought the staff who worked with me weren't particularly experienced and I wouldn't go back.

The x-rays took 35 minutes to complete. The Dr. actually had to stop the assistant from helping because she couldn't complete the task. Super disappointing visit overall.

Dr baston was very nice (although I had a problem with a filing she did not being completely filled and had to go to an emergency dentist to fix it)
The main reason why I won't go back to Dr Baston is because the receptionist is the worst. Takes almost as long to check out as it did to get the filing. She never handles just one customer at a time, she tries to do too many things at once and then forgets what she was doing or does something wrong on your account and it takes another 15 min to fix it. Happens every time.

Although the wait time was a bit longer than I'm used to and the 2 ladies at the front desk were bickering rather loudly (which I thought was inappropriate), it was the best dentist appointment I have ever had in my 27 years of going to the dentist. Dr. Baston was extremely friendly and calm, which helps because going to the dentist can be rather stressful, so her personality really helped me to relax. She clearly explained everything she was doing and was happy to answer all of my questions. She is very thorough with her work and even went the extra mile to fill my toothpaste prescription so it was ready when I got to my pharmacy. It was the shortest and least painful cleaning I have ever had. The lobby was very nice and comfortable. The room I was in had really nice artwork on the wall and the light fixture on the ceiling had an image of a beautiful blue sky with some clouds on it, which was quite nice when laying back in the chair. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

The reason for the delay was the paperwork, so not their fault. Overall the appointment was longer than expected, but they were shorthanded and Dr. Baston was great and worth the wait. So happy to have found a quality dentist in Manhattan!
