David Benderson, M.D., is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract and laser eye surgery. In 2011, Dr. Benderson was voted “Best Ophthalmologist” by readers of the Annapolis Capital newspaper. Dr. Benderson is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State, where he received a BA with Honors in History. As an undergraduate, he served as a White House intern in the Office of Public Liaison. He is a 2003 graduate of the Penn State College of Medicine, and he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Benderson’s interests include cataract surgery, premium lens implants (including multifocal, accommodating and toric implants), laser/refractive surgery and diseases ranging from glaucoma to macular degeneration.
Dr. Benderson has been involved with research in his field ranging from medical ethics to diabetic eye disease. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Archives of Ophthalmology. He has also presented posters and papers at several international ophthalmology conferences. Dr. Benderson is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
