Debra is a New Jersey based registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She currently maintains a full time insurance based private practice in medical nutrition therapy conveniently located in a "comfy" office in the center of Montclair. In her over 35 years of practice, Debra has developed and directed numerous weight management programs for both adults and children. She is the author of a book chapter on pediatric obesity and has worked as a nutrition specialist for some of our region’s major medical centers including St. Lukes Roosevelt, Mount Sinai and Maimonides Medical Centers in New York and the Joslin Diabetes Center in New Jersey.
Areas in which she has special expertise include pediatric/adolescent nutrition,pre and post bariatric surgery counseling, mindful eating/non-diet methods for weight management, and treatment of insulin-related diseases including PCOS, diabetes and diabetes prevention. She is a long-standing member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) having served as Chair of the Pediatric Practice Group 's Obesity Section and as an article editor for the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group.
