Hadassah Rooney, PMHNP-BC practices as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in serving racial/ethnic minority children and adults. Hadassah received a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, KY, and her undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL.
She currently serves as a Board member for the Florida Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. With over 10 years of experience providing evidence-based care to populations across the lifespan, and specialized training concentrated on families in crisis, her skill set is tailored to treat mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD and substance use disorder.

I have been a patient of Hadassah's for about five months now. In that timeframe, I have had 3 separate occasions where my medication refill requests were not fulfilled in enough time and I suffered through two separate 4-5 day spans of withdrawals. The last 2 times I went through withdrawals bc Hadassah is off on Fridays and weekends and didn't refill my medications prior to leaving the office for the week. The same thing has happened 3 months in a row.
They do not have any after hours number to call or doctor to help in the case of an emergency. The pharmacy can't help if there are no refills remaining and urgent care and the hospital both told me over the phone that they would not give me a controlled substance if I was going through withdrawals so I didn't even try. The office is closed on the weekends and the front desk receptionists can't contact the providers directly. So I finally ended up changing providers today.

I’ve been nervous to go to a psychiatrist for years due to my religious upbringing and stigma around mental health. But my life hasn’t been going well and I knew my mental health needed to become a priority. I just had my very first session, and Ms. Hadassah Rooney was very easy to talk to, and I talk a mile a minute! I felt very comfortable and at ease. I made an appointment through Zocdoc with a psychiatrist, but I was contacted me afterwards and made aware that he does not actually see any of the patients that go to his office. Instead, I was rescheduled with a Nurse Practitioner that works under him. These changes (as well as the fact that the appointment would be a video call and not in-person like I'd assumed) made me nervous going into it. However, Rooney assuaged many of my concerns very quickly. She was very professional and understanding. She listened diligently to what I had to say, and I felt incredibly relieved by her willingness to work with me to find out what I need.
I haven't heard back from anyone about the results of the appointment just yet, so I'm not sure what the final outcome will be, but so far my experience has been a largely positive one.
