Very good and very thorough. I would recommend this doctor to anyone and everyone.
Limited parking in the vicinity; professional and courteous staff
This was my forst visit to Dr. Ashkars office, and my first to Pulmonologist. I cant say enough about his insight to my condition. I walked in feeling very sick and in need if a clear plan of action, and left with that and more. The staff was very communicative and made the check in process very smooth and easy. The practioner that ran my tests made me feel comfortable and completed everything in a timely fashion. Dr. Ashkars bedside manner was excellent and he explained what my next steps should be. He didnt rush me out and ensured I left with a very idea of what my future will be, in terms of my conditon. Thank you to the dr and the staff!
Dr Ashkar is very knowledgeable and very professional and very nice
I liked the doctor and his staff very much. They saw me within 15 mins and did a very thorough examination. Time with the doctor was limited but he was knowledgeable and informative, as well as a good listener.
Too many patients . Too little time fir patient engagement
Professional, great bedside manners, thorough, and informative. Dr. Ashkar has excellent interpersonal skills. I highly recommend him.
Very good Doctor.
He is very professional and his staff is very friendly - an over all excellent experience !
This was a great office visit. The decor of the office needs an upgrade and they do not take card payments for Co-pay. Other than those two items, the visit was awesome. The staff is great, thorough and courteous. The evaluation took time, I was well instructed and did not feel rudhed. Dr. Ashkar has amazing bed side manners, made it a point to know my name. He gave great eye contact. As for the clinical portion, he was sensitive, took time to do process of elimination for possible causes. Most doctors are rushing out of the room these days. Not him, he aimed for excellence and so does his team. Pretty nice visit.
One of the best doctors I've ever seen, hands down. Thorough testing of my lungs on my first appointment to assess my asthma (done by the PA, who was also great). Doctor himself was knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. Would have made him my PCP permanently if it weren't for moving out of state.
The doctor was very attentive. He seemed extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his field. I didn't feel rushed or dismissed by him or the staff. The only thing that I wasn't too crazy about was the setting. It was outdated, extremely dull, and lacked comfortability.
Loved it !!
He is an amazing doctor. I've had asthma for years and he's by far the best doctor I've seen about it. Actually listens and doesn't just want to write you a script and get you out of there in 5 minutes.
A pleasant experience
Professional, nice, cooperative, caring, and patient Overall it was a good visit
It was very good.
Great doctor and staff
The visit was excellent and thorough. It was useful and I would recommend this doctor to anyone.
Amazing, didn't have a referral and he saw me anyone. Amazing doctor and very nice
This doctor was amazing. He took the time and actually listen to me. He didn't just rushed me through the visit. I've had that experience before and it is not pleasant! The office staff or courteous and just overall caring people. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs either sleep or lung!!!!!!!
The doctor was very good and very professional. Unfortunately, the wait time over came my like for Dr. Ashkar, it was 3 hours long! My appointment was at 5:15 and i did not leave there till 8. They also kept moving me room to room to room which was frustrating as well.
The overall experience was disappointing and although Dr. John Ashkar is a proficient pulmonary diagnostician, I will not return to his office. Maybe my concerns will not matter to you but here they are for your own consideration. 1. Receptionist a. There were two female receptionists at my appointment. One with white hair with glasses and one with dark black hair. One with white hair with glasses was rude to me. when I entered the office, I said “Hello” then she, without even looking up, said “you don’t see a sign-up sheet?” Imagine you are sick and tired and already feeling down. Then the first thing you hear from the doctor’s office is such a comment? I already had a bad feeling about this visit. But the woman with dark hair was pretty nice. She explained to me what to fill out and one point I told her that I didn’t want to fill out certain sections, then she said that’s fine. She was nice about it. 2. No communication among staff a. I was called pretty quickly. A female (I don’t know if she was LPN or MA or what) took my blood pressure, weight (not height), typical tests. Then of course she asked me if I smoke I said no. After that, she took me to a different room. I did a couple of breathing tests there. And of course while I’m doing this, nobody explained to me what this is for or what they are looking for what they are measuring etc. Just simply told me to put inhaler equipment in my mouth and breathe in/out or whatever they told me to do. There was two staff: one female and one male. You can tell that the male staff was not comfortable with the machine. I think one point he might have put my birthday wrong and a female staff correct him. I am not sure. I am not sure BECAUSE they were speaking non-English language. I don’t know what language it was, but they were pointing at the screening that shows my information (either my demographic information or my tests results etc), and they were laughing and talking something in non-English language. This entire time I was feeling very uncomfortable. Also while I was taking these tests in a room, other staff with a patient opened the door multiple times. They couldn’t put a sign, saying that there is a patient? Then of course they also asked me if I smoke. I almost wanted to tell them that one of your staff JUST asked me like 1 min ago. Only good thing happened in the past 30 mins so far was that after all the tests were done, one of the staff told me “feel better”. 3. Dr. John Ashkar a. Finally time to see a doctor. He was calm and asked me many questions (including if I smoke. Why is that?). I liked that he was asking me many different questions, however he does not listen. He asked me if there’s mucus when I cough. I said “Yes and sometimes they are white and sometimes they are yellow” He asked me more questions, like if I cough when there’re dusts etc. Then very shortly he asked me what colors my mucus are. I was like… “really?” 4. Payment a. So after the visit, I went back to the receptionists’ area. No credit card. Only cash or checks but you will be notified right at the moment when you are about to pay. 5. Prescription a. I was feeling miserable during the appointment, but I thought it was over. I was wrong. I went to a pharmacy to receive medicines. Pharmacists were NOT able to read Dr. John Ashkar’s prescriptions so they were NOT able to provide me the medications. Warning: If he writes you a prescription, first you should read it. If you cannot read them, chances are the pharmacists cannot read them either. If you ask him to write it neatly, and if he gives you a hard time, simply that is not nice.
The doctor was nice and easy to talk to, however my experience was awkward. I went for my annual physical, was told I needed to also get blood work, and additional testing done; the additional tests were not required, but the doctor wanted to be thorough. I ended up with additional co-pay charges.
He was very good and I feel comfortable.
He is very nice. He listens when you talk.
The office was nice and the people were easy going. I would recommend going here.
-Testing was done efficiently -Complete staff was confidant in their duties -Dr. well informed and helpful for next steps

Doctor didn't rush me, answered my questions and saw me quickly. I would definitely go back as well as recommend others to go.
The people working in the office itself were very efficient and thorough. The secretary set up an appointment for me with the lab, however I never received a call back. I would certainly use this doctor again
He was definitely very thorough. And he made sure to ask me all the questions, and seem to care about my health. Great doctor!
He was very professional and very knowledgable- the staff was very friendly.
