Joseph J. Arena, MD was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 5th, 1961. He attended college at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY; there, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Psychology. In 1982, he enrolled in medical school at St. George University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indes. After graduating, he performed a residency in Internal Medicine and Care fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY, NY. After completing all training, he came to south Florida where he has worked for the past 22 years. In 1996, he opened his private practice of Internal Medicine in Deerfield Beach. Dr. Arena has participated in many clinical trials for various new drugs with different pharmaceutical companies. In addition, he has lectured to the medical community on various topics including depression, osteoporosis, hypertension, among others. Now, Dr. Arena enjoys speaking to patients in the community on these same topics. He is passionate about educating his patients about the importance of preventative medicine in addition to quality of life issues. Dr. Arena takes pride in the fact that he sees his own patients admitted to the hospital. His hospital affiliations include: Broward Health North, Coral Springs Medical Center, University Hospital and North West Medical Center.
