My name is Meir Spinner, M.D. I am a psychiatrist and currently in private practice in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. A graduate in biochemistry from Stony Brook University, my life-journey led me to medical school in Italy, where I expanded my cultural horizons and eventually returned to my Jewish roots thanks to Chabad/Lubavitch. I returned to the US, married, and completed my residency training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NYC. By nature contrary to the mainstream, I still believe in the traditional model of one client one doctor and of engaging in real and meaningful dialogue with someone seeking help. Medication has it's place, and I may prescribe it, but not at the expense of the client's humanity.

I instantly felt like I was in good hands when I walked into Dr. Spinner's office for the first time. He has a bed side manner that feels genuinely natural and honed at the same time.
If you're looking for someone to write careless scripts I'd look elsewhere. He's the Dr. you want if you're searching for a professional who knows when to medicate and when to go natural.

Dr. Spinner has an excellent manner, and is fairly easy to talk to. He listened well, was patient to my needs, and explained my options clearly.

Dr. Spinner said he would need more than one appointment to prescribe me any medication. I told him that the next opening on his patch-work calendar of ZocDoc patients was a month a half from the date we were meeting. "Yes" he said, "we can meet then and I will be happy to talk more about medication."

Takes time to listen and doesn't rush to drugs. Really wants to understand the person and the pain, in order to accurately diagnose the problem. I saw Dr. Meir for several months, and only ceased treatment when I moved.

Dr Spinner is warm and considerate and very caring, also wonderfully logical, practical and proactive, he was a tremendous help from the get go and I look forward to continuing my treatment with him. He is knowledgeable, thorough and wise, and I feel well supported.

Was waiting 20 minutes someone should open the door, and after the doctor came out he didn't even notice that I scheduled an appointment for that time, even that it was confirmed by his secretary 2 days before and then again a hour before the appointment. However didn't get to much time to know him, but he didn't make a good impression for me, maybe for someone else he would be good.

Dr. Spinner made me feel comfortable and showed kindness and a willingness to help me work through my difficulties. He is not a pill-pusher but will make recommendations based on his clinical assessment and gave me the ultimate decision on my treatment plan.

Best psychiatrist out there. Dr. Spinner has a great way of establishing a relationship with his patients. I personally have had a difficult time connecting with psychiatrists in the past. Under Dr. Spinner's care I was able to quit smoking, address some personal/professional issues I had been ignoring, and adjust my medications accordingly.

I'm so happy I found Dr Spinner! He got good reviews online, which I have found to be rare for a psychiatrist, so I figured I would give it a try, and they are definitely accurate. He is very attentive, and got in contact with me right after I made the appointment on zocdoc, so we already had a correspondence before I met him, which I liked. He is down to earth and easy to talk to, and seems like a good knowledgable doctor.

Dr. Spinner is a fantastic psychiatrist. If you live in Brooklyn I highly recommend him. If you're in Manhattan his office is also close to the subway. He's great at reminding you to breathe, making you feel less ashamed of your shortcomings and handles prescriptions very professionally. His office is quiet and calm.

Dr. Spinner is an amazingly understanding, sincere and knowledgable professional. He is the rare kind of psychiatrist that genuinely wants to help by making an earnest effort to get to know you as both a patient and a human being. It is then and only then that he will consider a prescription. He doesn't hesitate in giving wise words and valuable advice in regards to your issues and is always open with his reasoning and expertise. I can only speak for myself of course, but I'm confident that if you both agree on a medication, it will be exactly what you personally need. Dr. Spinner has dramatically improved my life. I highly recommend him.

Dr spinner is simply one of those doctors that are in it for the money. As a health care provider myself, responsibilities include occasional phone calls to the insurance to provide prior authorization and therefore ensure patients will receive their meds. My insurance needed a prior approval from dr spinner to dispense my medication. Instead of placing that 5 min phone call, he called me to say he is a "busy man" and if I want him to make the call, I must first make an appointment to see him. Only during that time will he call my insurance company. I had seen him that very week for my appointment and was not about to spend another fortune so that he will call my insurance company. I never in my life have had any issues with doctors preauthorizing. Definitely never been "blackmailed" that I will not receive my medication unless I pay to see my doctor again.
I will also mention that on at least 3 occasions dr spinner cancelled my appointments with barely an hour's notice, then would not follow up to reschedule. Private pay patients can always be squeezed in I'm sure.
Bedside skills need some serious work. Shrugging shoulders at the mention of hardship will not do much for a patient. Nor will taking calls while in session.
In short, dr spinner does not care about his patients, only his income. Better find someone who will at least take an extra few mins to call insurance.
