Dr. Metro received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992 and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996. He completed his surgical training and urologic residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2001. He also completed a fellowship in Traumatic and Reconstructive Urology at the University of California, San Francisco under the direction of Jack W. McAninch in 2002. During this time, he served as clinical instructor at San Francisco General Hospital. At Albert Einstein Medical Center, he is a member of the operating room committee, the cancer committee, and the medical staff board.
Dr. Metro has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles on topics such as impotence, urethral strictures and urologic trauma. He has written multiple book chapters on topics such as surgery for renal, ureteral and urethral trauma, urethral stricture disease, and reconstruction for major genital skin loss. He has presented at regional, national, and international meetings on topics such as erectile dysfunction, urethral reconstruction, and urologic trauma. Since 2003, Dr. Metro has served as a contributing editor for Urotoday.com, a comprehensive website that reviews the world literature on urology on a daily basis. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Trauma.
At Albert Einstein Medical Center, he has developed a regional referral center for the management of urethral stricture disease, male incontinence, Peyronie's disease, and reconstructive urology. He also has interests in the management of female voiding dysfunction, the management of renal, bladder, and prostate cancer, and the treatment and subsequent prevention of stone disease.
