Dr. Niraj Desai is a Board Certified Atlanta ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, and corneal transplant surgery.
After completing his undergraduate studies in two years, Dr. Desai began his medical career at the Medical College of Georgia. In medical school, Dr. Desai was active in cutting edge research with the Department of Ophthalmology. He had the opportunity to present his research at national conferences and publish several papers. In addition, Dr. Desai was selected to be a part of a surgical volunteer program at the famed Christian Medical College in Vellore, India during his second year of medical school.
After graduating in the top ten percent of his class, Dr. Desai completed an Internal Medicine internship at the University of Hawaii. His ophthalmology residency took him to the University of Texas at San Antonio. During residency, Dr. Desai conducted studies with the United States Air Force in the field of laser surgery Dr. Desai was also recognized with the distinction of having performed the highest number of surgeries in his residency class.
A developing interest in cornea and refractive surgery brought Dr. Desai to Southern California where he was chosen to complete a prestigious fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Irvine.
Since the completion of fellowship, Dr. Desai has been committed to providing outstanding eye care to his patients. He specializes in customized cataract surgery, LASIK, corneal disease and surgery while continuing to participate in research.

I saw Dr. Baker. She was thorough and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her. I have Sjogren's and she knows about that disease and how to treat my eyes as well as what we need to watch for. The rest of the staff was fantastic as well. Having just moved here and not knowing anyone to get a recommendation from, I lucked out!

I never saw Niraj Desai, he does mostly surgeries. I saw Dr. Gina Borgnini because it was an emergency and she was the one available. I had a excruciating virus in my eye. When the medication didn't relieve the pain, she opened the office to see me on a Saturday and gave me new prescriptions. She was a lifesaver.

I had a great appointment with Dr Desai and his team today. The front desk staff and nurse were pleasant and professional, and I was seen right on time. Dr Desai was very personable and answered my questions completely. I received a thorough exam and left satisfied with my visit.

I felt like I was rushed through the appointment. The technician was overworked, and slightly abrupt during the entire thing. When I saw the doctor, he recommended a procedure with a high risk of failing and prescribed me very expensive (not-covered by insurance) eye drops that have some serious side effects. I don't feel comfortable going back here.

Scheduled appointment through ZocDoc and someone from the practice even called and confirmed, as well as receiving multiple reminders, yet when I arrived I was told they didn't have me on the schedule and that they had tried to call me, which I don't believe. So everything was a delay. However, I will continue to use the practice but not through ZocDoc.
