Dr. Richard B. Ashby, a native Washingtonian, is a Family Physician who has been in private practice in this community for more than 24 years. His practice grew from one office in Silver Spring, Maryland to a group practice with as many as 7 simultaneous operations ( including one of the area’s leading urgent care centers) located throughout Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. In addition to building one of the tri-state most prolific family practice groups, Dr. Ashby has staffed hospital emergency rooms around the region.
Dr. Ashby currently has offices in Alexandria, Virginia and Washington, DC where he provides health and wellness services for children and adults. Additional evaluations include digital retinal exams for diabetics, complete pulmonary function studies, needle free sensory nerve conduction studies, early detection of peripheral vascular disease and metabolic rate assessment for morbid obesity.
Equally important to his long established medical career, Dr. Ashby is a constant and visible participant in community affairs around the tri-state area.

Dr. Ashby was okay. He was professional, but did not have a warm bedside manner by any means during my visit. Based on other reviews, I think the entire office was disjointed that day. There were 6-7 patients in the waiting room when I came in for my appointment who were all in front of me. I heard another patient saying she had been waiting for an hour and a half. I waited for almost 2 hours when all was said and done. The staff and the nurse who helped me were kind, but Dr. Ashby asked the same questions I answered for them earlier, so it felt like I just wasted a lot of time in general. Also, the office is in an old building and while the patient rooms were okay, the exam room where I got my BP, weight and height measured was dirty and needed to be cleaned.
