I started with another urologist that I was assigned at Banner Thunderbird Hospital and off of the meeting with him and other members of his staff I thought I was in good hands. How wrong I was! I exited the hospital with a catheter in place and over a month later I still had it in place and didn't know anymore about what was wrong with me than I did when I went in the hospital. I convinced my primary care physician that a change in urologists was warranted and I began searching for one online. I found Dr. Nelson and mentioned him to my doctor only to find out she had come up with the same name in her research. I made an appointment and when I met Dr. Nelson he impressed me right away as someone who gets right down to business. I left his office knowing what was causing my urinary retention and with a plan in place to correct the problem. I would encourage anyone with an enlarged prostate and the accompanying urinary tract symptoms to give Dr. Roscoe Nelson a call.

A little bit about myself. I grew up in Escondido, CA, and received my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University where I graduated as the valedictorian of my class. I completed my doctorate of medicine at the University of California, San Diego, followed by training in general surgery and urologic residency at the University of California, Davis. I am Board certified by the American Board of Urology (ABU) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I began practicing urology in Arizona in 1999 and am currently practicing at Arizona Urology Specialists.
Dr. Roscoe S. “Rocky” Nelson is a nationally recognized, Board Certified Urologist. His practice encompasses all urologic conditions with a strong focus on prostate cancer, incontinence, kidney stones and male sexual health. He has a special interest in virtually painless anesthesia for vasectomies using the No-Scalpel and No-Needle techniques. His goal is to provide personalized, state-of-the-art care for all patients.
