Dr. Franco is a clinical professor at Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine and a clinical faculty at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
A native Chicagoan, Dr. Sandra Franco moved to South Florida to pursue her medical degree at Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine. After earning her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree, she completed a three-year Residency at Westchester General Hospital in Miami, FL.
In addition to being a clinician, surgeon, and award-winning educator, she is also a scientist. She has conducted bench research in South Korea investigating rare diseases to more recently studying the effects of cold laser on diabetic neuropathy.
Dr. Franco truly embodies the essence of a global citizen. She regularly participates on medical missions to promote public awareness of lower extremity disease prevention and treatment. Dr. Franco is part of a highly trained surgical team performing lower extremity reconstructive procedures throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Dr. Franco’s surgical training is in forefoot surgery and aggressive life-threatening wounds.
She’s appeared on Telemundo, an American television network that broadcasts in Spanish, covering a wide range of health and disease prevention topics. She routinely appears on radio and other media platforms covering topics ranging from wound care to cosmetic procedures.
