Dr. Zaineb Makhzoumi is a dermatologist who provides expert skin, hair, and nail care. Dr. Makhzoumi earned her bachelor's degree and later a master's degree in public health from George Washington University and her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She finished her internal medicine internship at Mercy Medical Center, her dermatology residency at the University of Virginia, and her micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship at UC San Francisco. She is also certified in micrographic dermatologic surgery by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Makhzoumi is a respected member of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative, the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the Women's Dermatologic Society. She has received many awards for excellence in medical education, including the 2008 Faculty Gold Medal Award and the 2015 Pass and Susel Medication Education Tool Chest Award from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. An Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society member, Dr. Makhzoumi has also contributed to dermatological research, notably co-authoring a commentary on photosensitizing agents and the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
