Welcome to Abide Psychiatry Abide Psychiatry is a specialized, 100% virtual telepsychiatry practice bridging the gap between biological sleep restoration and comprehensive mental health care. Led by Dr. Pichit Thanupakorn ('Dr. T')—a Duke-trained, board-eligible psychiatrist and former Chief Resident in Emergency Psychiatry—we serve adults physically located anywhere across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Behind almost every severe case of anxiety, depression, or burnout is a fractured foundation of sleep. We do not simply mask your daytime symptoms with sedatives or offer short-term fixes. Instead, we prioritize sleep as the foundation of healing, helping you uncover and treat the root drivers of your sleeplessness and emotional distress. Our Core Clinical Specialties: *Behavioral Sleep Medicine (CBT-I): Gold-standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia to retrain your brain to fall and stay asleep naturally—outperforming sleeping pills over the long term. *Comprehensive Psychiatry: Conservative, evidence-based medication management and integrated psychotherapy (ACT, CBT, Psychodynamic) for Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar II, and Adult ADHD. CPAP Support & Optimization: Comprehensive medical management for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), including Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT), CPAP setting management, and behavioral desensitization for CPAP mask anxiety, claustrophobia, and sensory issues. Optional Faith-Integrated Care: For patients who desire it, we offer optional Christian faith-integrated psychotherapy alongside rigorous, evidence-based medical care. Practice Scope & Prescribing Boundaries: To protect your long-term sleep architecture, brain health, and safety, Abide Psychiatry maintains strict clinical boundaries: No Long-Term Daily Benzodiazepines or Opioids: We do not prescribe long-term daily benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Klonopin) or opioids. Adult ADHD Policy: Initiating or managing stimulant medications for Adult ADHD requires recent formal neuropsychological testing from a licensed psychologist. Outpatient Telehealth Scope: As a solo virtual practice, we do not treat acute psychiatric crises requiring emergency care, severe substance detox, or complex sleep-disordered breathing requiring BiPAP or ASV. Insurance, Fees & Financial Policies In-Network Insurance: Commercial Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Aetna (PPO/EPO plans in NC and FL). Out-of-Network / Private Pay: Available for all other plans. Detailed receipts (Superbills) can be provided upon request for potential out-of-network insurer reimbursement. Medicare & Medicaid: We are formally opted out of Medicare and, due to state regulations, cannot accept or treat patients enrolled in Medicaid. Practice Cancellation & Late Fee Policy When you schedule an appointment, that time is reserved exclusively for your care. We maintain a strict 48-hour cancellation policy: We require a minimum of 48 hours' (2 business days') notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged a $100 late-cancellation fee. Insurance companies will not reimburse for missed appointments or late cancellations. This fee is the sole responsibility of the patient and will be charged to the card kept on file in your patient portal. What Happens After You Book on Zocdoc Booking on Zocdoc reserves your prospective evaluation slot, but a formal doctor-patient relationship is established only after clinical review and intake completion. Once you submit your request: You will receive an invitation to complete your secure digital intake packet via our HIPAA-compliant portal (SimplePractice). Your intake paperwork and card on file must be completed at least 48 hours prior to your visit to confirm your session. All sessions take place via a secure video link provided prior to your appointment.
